Take the kick panel off and it is plainly visible - a small white box about 2x2x1 with one small harness running in. It is only held on with one bolt/screw if i remember correctly. And the appropriate term is TCM.

Lost - Have you installed a new stereo lately? Did it blow when you did (if you did).. If this is the case you need to REWIRE your system to bypass the factory amps.

EDIT - Or the new one could be blown.. This seems like a very common problem lately. Open the TCM up and check it visully for burns on the circut board. They should be quite obvious.

nope, the new TCM looks fine, no burn marks or anything...so a new deck can blow the TCM? how do i rewire it to bypass the amps?

I don't remember exactly. I know the illumination wire should NOT be hooked up, and I think you need to have the power antenna wire and amp wire come together... Search though it has been a long time and I dont remember completely. Good luck.

Post Script - Lost you might need another tcm. The second could have blown too.

hey guys, same thing happened to me, i have a 90 240sx, and when ig ot it it had no dash lights, so i figured either the light bulbs burned out or there was a short in the wire, but obviously not, since i removed the whole gauge cluster, and so i came upon this thread and read abotu the TCM circuit board, and i decided to give it a shot and took it out, and certainyl enough i foudn out one of the circuit boards was burned, so i was fortunate to find the problem, until yesterday when i bought another TCM from my local junkyard. I checked to see if there was any circuit lines burned out, and no. I put it in, connected it and plugged my battery and everything. As soon as i turned ont he switch, bam i start smellin smoke, and i took out the TCM again, and sure enough the same exact circuit line that burned out ont he other one, it happened to this one as well. I have a stereo hooked up as well, but im not too sure how the whole stereo wiring goes and how it affects all my dashboard lights, (i sortof need a visual wiring diagram of some sort since im a newbee at this) ALl of my other lights work, pretty much everything, jsut the dashboard and everything is not lighitng up. I know for a fact the reason why my tachometer aint workin. Do u think its because of the SR20DET engine i got there that could be the problem? let me knwo guys, i would appreciate it, sorry bout the mispells. thanks
