many guys take it to 7200 some 7500. once u start getting closer to 8k it seems bearings will start to be thrown. sure if you shift once at 8k nothin will happen, but this also isnt useful without a large turboa nd a good flowing motor.

only time i take it to about 7k is at the track. no need for it on the street

also, you can probably feel lack of increase of power after about 5k rpm on the stock ka, I wonder how that may differ in kat

if you are not making power at high rpm then there is no incentive to go there

cams will definitely push the powerband up on a ka. turbo will add to this.

S14's redlines are 6500 from the factory, S13 KA24DE's are (IIRC) 6900 rpm, and the only difference between those two engines is that the S13 KA's had hotter cams in them...so S14 engines were always built to be able to go up to 6900 rpm, and the JWT just allows this to happen (and 300 more rpm, which isn't that much). To be safe I'd never shift it past 7000, the vast majority of people aren't making power past 6500 anyway. Stock KA's peaked at 5500 rpm.
