Hey,

Here's the deal: My 245/45/16 Yoko AVS sport tires rub a bit on the rear of my car (16" x 8", +10 offset). It's really not bad at all around town and the tires only actually rub the wheel well lip during extremely hard cornering or a good sized bump/dip in the road.

Nonetheless, I DO need the rear fenders rolled, and I don't like not being able to push it in the turns....it negates the whole purpose of fat, sticky tires.

I have called and/or stopped by at least 20 body shops (about 5 of them specialized in "custom" fabrication) in the Northern Connectictut/Massachusetts area, and at least 3/4 of them have NO idea what I'm talking about when I mention fender rolling, and not a SINGLE one of them actually has the DEDICATED fender rolling tool that is pretty much idiot proof to make a quality fender rolling without cracked paint. Only about 3 of the shops said they could even do it....some said they'd cut the actual lip out, others said they wouldn't because it damages the car structurally, but ALL of the shops said that a significant amount of paint/body work would need to be done on the fenders if they rolled it.

The tool that I'm referring to is this one:

Using this tool is NOT supposed to require repainting, assuming the fenders' paint is heated up a good amount with a heat gun prior to it. It doesn't seem that hard to do and as a last result I'm sure I could just rent one, but I'd much rather have a shop that's DONE this before do it to my car so I know it wouldn't look terrible.

So my question, for any of you New Englanders (I know there aren't many of you), is do ANY of you know of any shop that actually HAS this tool and regularly rolls fenders with it, without needing to do expensive repaints?

I'm in North Central CT right near the Mass border, but would travel a good amount to a shop if I knew they'd do a good job.

Here's a picture to show you the clearance I have now...

I'm not even sure that just rolling the inner lip would give it enough clearance, but I do know that because I'm running -2 deg camber in the rear and because of the design of independent rear suspension, the wheels go up, when compressed, at a bit of an angle and would probably clear it no problem.

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

You can roll the inner lip in without having to really worry about messing anything up yourself, with a baseball bat or whatever and a blowtorch/heat gun. BTW those tires look huge.

You might want to try Tire Rack. I think they loan them out with a rental fee and deposit.
