I have a multipurpose ABS/TCS/Slip relay from Joe--he said my Q was built in April of '99 ...I can't find the correct placement of this small relay in any of the schematics on line--or IF it is there it is too small for me to see....the relay is OEM and is the blue topped one....and there are NO relays attached to my ABS unit-just a plug in strip as the relays are built into the unit-? This is so frustrating......could it be under the dash on the drivers side? Help!

Well I am deleting abs out of my 93 q45 and replacing everything with 350z brembo. The engine bay looks much cleaner without a million abs lines running everywhere. But I may have to relocate my cruise control box where the abs system was since I would like to have cruise after my conversion .

To get this thread back on track.

First off, my apologies for the incorrect answer previously, the ABS relay is on the ABS pump on my 97 but I now also own a 99 and see that it is no longer in this location.

Second, you have to follow the same thread for an answer, this question now has at least 2 and maybe 3 different threads devoted to it-all with no answer. Future searchers need this info also so it must be simple to find.

Third, the closest thing I could find in my cursory seacrh of the 99 FSM is a ABS/TCS "control module" under the passenger dash above the kick panel. My guess is that the relay is located in there.

"BA"..thanks for getting us back on track- I have such an old computer and small screen that when I do finally link up to the online FSM-I can't see where anaything really goes-LOL...and u have found out per your reply that the 99s are a tad different-especially if they were built later in the year! I've even stumped Joe on this one....as far as above the kick panel-u mean even above the ECU unit? One would have to be a contortionist to reach much above that! and if it is on the inside firewall on passenger side-it must be behind the cabin filter/ac unit...???? Impossible to reach....I've built and raced national record holders in NHRA..but have never come across a car so "over engineered" as these Infinitis! My 2007 Lincoln Town car is a dream to service compard to these.....and my wife won't let me sell her old '96 I-30 with 160,000 miles just because she likes to drive it! I appreciate all the help from everyone on this site.....sooner or later we'll all get squared away on these problems....Doug

Dadee.....thank you---on mine-'99q-it is slightly hidden under the top fender roll on the passenger side directly across from the ABS unit-the cover is painted black and is hard to see at first-it blends in so well.....but alas...this new relay didn't make my ABS/SLIP/TCS lights go off on my dash! I am so pissed at this car---what else could cause the lights to stay on?? Help---anyone?????

A relay is an electro magnetic switch and IS easily tested to see if it does work as it is supposed to before you start "changing parts hoping for the best".

The lite stays on because there is a fault in the systems. Until the fault is found and repaired the lite will stay lit. You may be able to remove the nagging yellow lite bulb however but the circuit will stay live.

Having said that, I am in the process of studying my newly acquired $ 300.00 PAPER FSM and a bit on your problem, At this juncture all I can offer is good luck. Man you ain't got no idea how much info there is to study in those books about your problem.

Might be worth your while to consult the DEALER if you are bothered with the lite. Any one of the three systems mentioned malfunctioning will trigger the lite. Plus after you fix the problem you must erase the code to extinguish the lite. At least that is my understanding after reading part of the BR section of the FSM for the 2000 Q45.

The ABS light has been on in my Legend for three years and I know ABS the system very well. The fix is rather expensive and the ABS is not needed so although I would rather not look at this light I let it go. But these cars are way more complicated with the combined systems than the '95 Legend is.

Jack--thanks for your input....if u read something good in that expensive FSM...tell me what to try on the lights staying on....A dealer is over 100 miles from me as it is...and the LOCAL Nissan dealer couldn't read any codes from my ECU-is that strange or what? Said it was not working....but I drive the car every day....these things are so over-engineered! Doug

The problem may well be something wrong with the sensors which are located at the front wheel spindles near those "serrated rings" and at the rear axle near the differential again near the "serrated rings". The sensors act on the magnetic pick-up theory. Everything should be clean and free of any oil or debris around the rings.

Past that I cannot go. There is just too much to learn about those systems and is probably why you are not getting much help. Now if this were about

The FSM mentions the "Consult II" as the unit to use for checking the codes and the entire ABS TCS SLIP system.

Good luck. Jack
