Your MAF is supposed to bolt into your air cleaner box.... From what I know, So i don't think that part is even part of the OEM Probally some half assed hot air kit? So you can put the air filter you have on it right now on.

Just curious... if you take your filter out is there a butterfly valve there? That might be a throttle valve out of some other car heh

I could be wrong.

That is the AIT (air intake temp) sensor, which is only found on sohc's. Since you have a dohc, you don't need it.

It was probably installed on there because the setup moved from a sohc car -> dohc car & the dohc owner needed something to plug up the adapter.

probably that maf is for california emission car if your car is not equipped with california emissions ecu and harness you can't fin the conector for thatone... (ca. emmision cars use air intake temp sensor and egr temp sensor i think a fuel temp sensor as well)... to many dont you think...

No, it's just for sohc, as I stated above. I have both cars, both cali emissions.

It's not the maf, it's the maf adapter - on the stock intake box (for sohc), there is a separate spot for it near the filter.

And from what I remember when I had the sohc, leaving the ait disconnected didn't even make the CEL go on - only goes on under a weird condition which you can find if you search on this forum (I asked about it once a long time ago).
