so it turns out that i've been driving my 90 240sx for the last month without the engine being grounded... my 4 gauge ground got ripped off cause there i had a limited amount of monster cable, and i guess there i didn't leave enough slack. i've replaced it now, but what damage could i have done to my car because of this?

in the process of creating a new ground for my engine, i found this cable hanging freely with no obvious missing connections around it:

where does this thing go? and is it important?

thanks a lot in advance!-andrew

well it's right between the battery and the intake piping... it is actually attached to the side of the fuse box, zap strapped to another group of wires...

keep in mind this is a 1990 240sx (no power options, no AC)...

ok here's another pic of it further back... it looks orange in the pic cause of the lighting, but it's actually brown:

i think it could be something to do with AC, but i don't have that, so maybe that's why this cable is hanging freely

it could be for the compressor clutch. hard to tell it doesnt look like it was ever plugged into anything. was it strapped to the harness with a peice of blue or grey tape? if so that would mean it was an option your car didnt have. most of the nissans have the harness installed for full options but the components for the option is not installed for different model levels.
