Did a quick search and it appears each member pays dues. I'm looking now to see if I can find out how they decide how much each country pays. But no matter who paid, $23 mill for an ugly ceiling?

The US provides an inordinate amount of funding for the UN.

I'd love to see us OUT of the UN, but I don't see that happening under the current administration.

Its an aluminum framed design thats painted, its not going anywhere.

What a f**king way to piss away some cash UN. I do believe that is really close to the dollar amount that the US contributes in one year to the UN. The max any one member can contribute.

With everything else going on in the world, so much need for help, they blow 23 mil on a ceiling in the midst of a global recession.

Wild looking though.. Should draw some crowds. I hope the UN has a big admission fee..

The UN is the brainchild of the US under President Woodrow Wilson. It was first created as the League of Nations. For the US to back out of supporting the UN, would be a complete admission that pace is an illusion. Without the UN, more global chaos and blood shed would hav ebeen the norm. While they remain largely inefficient, as all bureaucracies are, the UN still has its function. Perhaps, a better ideal would be for the US to assert itself interms of the administration of the UN.

No, that would make other countries cry foul. We just need to tell them to move to France so we can turn the UN building into affordable housing.
