Where does the tach signal come from?

This may be a fairly simple question but I couldn't not find it by searching. Where does the tach signal come from?

it should originate off the CAS. or are you asking where you need to splice into it for your dash wiring?

There is a separate terminal on the ECU just for your tach output. This is Yellow with red stripe if my memory serves me right.... There are only few wires going from the ECU to F3 plug on your harness. One of them will be yellow with red stripe and that is your tach signal.

CAS signal mentioned above is 1* and 180* signal and yes the tach output is based on this signal but I am not sure if that signal will be equal to the tach output readings.
