Safety Police, not everyone has amenities to do the things they want to do.Hijacker wrote:
I'm not even going to get started on the problems of using a backhoe as an engine hoist, or a forklift to lift a car.
The best place to work on a car is a flat, solid surface. Whether it be asphalt or concrete, in a garage or your driveway. Always use jack stands, and never put yourself under something that is being held up by hydrolics such as engine hoists or jacks. Lifts in a shop are different because they have stops to keep cars from sliding down should the hydrolics fail.
Ha! Of course using a backhoe is not ideal, like I said, that was few years ago...and it was a stripped down rotary. Plus like someone said, a backhoes hydraulics are more powerful than a hoists. You could lift a rotary out out of the bay w/ two people and a board if you wanted to be caveman about it. Now a forklift...thats not a good idea if you are going to work under it (which is the only reason I could see why you'd be lifting a car with a forklift, hehe). And yes, always use jack stands on a level surface, you Vs car in a weight contest the car will always win. Keep it fun, but be safe!Hijacker wrote:

Very Carefully......All torn apart and new one installed but no bolts installed and wires at midnight below zero in a snowing.raining conditions on a steep incline on the side of a freeway equels major suckage and just towed it (the conditions and didnt want the police to tow it and tow bill was way less than an impound charge) and I took a picture of it on the flatbed. I can post a pic I took with my camera tonight if neededn240sxfnatic wrote:How do u replace 90% of ur alternator?
