I'm trying to find out but the cheapest Ive found them is for 1400shipped. With harness ecu and trans.

The sr20 are at 2k. Not much difference in price(I though this was more expensive) and the ca where suppose to be around 500.

Curious as to where does us tuners get their ca18?

IDK where you would buy an imported ANYTHING for $500. $1500 sound about right for a CA18DET swap

That's what I thought too, but on the datsun forum under their tech that they can be had for 500(engine only) and all these comparison online between sr and ca showing 1k in price difference at a minimum which is simply not the case. Seems like in price it's 600 at it's maximum.

$500? Not really, man. I've been in this business for a long time and I can't even swing $500 for a functioning engine. If you can find an engine for that cheap, be prepared to rebuild it. The CA18DET might be small, but $1400-$1600 is right because they are rather scarce. Everyone that I've picked-up as of late have been up for a rebuild and I won't sell an engine I've rebuilt for no less than $1700, so do the math. A used engine set for $1500 or the same engine set with rebuilt CA18DET for $2100. Which do you think is the better buy? You may find someone that wants to go SR, RB, or even KA and want to get rid if their CA, so you may find a deal out there somewhere. But if they are telling you $500 for a CA18DET in the datsun forum, then they should also instruct you where to find it as well. And if that is just the engine, you will need the transmission as well. Spend the money and do it right the first time or you'll be like a lot of members on this forum attempting to piece together an already rare engine which equates to more issues.

Here's their pricing. It said usd so I assumed it can be had in us price but maybe somewhere else it can be?

And piece together? What's more that needs piecing if you have an engine? Set it up with ms and stumpy trans custom ds and clutch. It's going on a datsun 1200 so perhaps it needs less than swapping to 240?

I don't think illl be missing anything else. Btw I also planed for cp piston and a rebuild with arp stud and mls which is why initial price is crucial.

I gues I been also spoiled with mustang 5.0 in my datsun which can be had for less than 400 a piece so I thought that figure was realistic.

I know I'm a little late but are you sure they mean ca18det and ca18et? because 2 of the pics in your link a single cam ca's which can be had for less than 400 dollars for just the motor and a full swap would'nt be much more....

I pick my up for 850 and it came with enough extra parts to build another one. It is getting a rebuild but I got the transmission, ecu, and all the wiring. Try craiglist or local engine shops.

That Datsun website is "administered from Portugal" and seems to have many Australian posters and has price quotes in USD and AUD, and that being said, I'm sure you can find a CA18DET motor in Australia for the equivalent of $500 USD ($477 AUD).

Beyond that, I've seen CA18DET motors go for $500. Not including shipping, or transmission, wireharness, ECU, intercooler, turbo, etc. How many times on here will someone in the classifieds part out a motorset and sell the loaded block for around that amount? Most of the time they need rebuilt anyhow (otherwise why part it out).

Anyhow...
