if they weren't hooked up is that a big issue. and would that create a vacuum leak

Wouldn't be a problem you just wouldn't have coolant flowin through the iacv which I think is used to warm it up on cold days, but not sure.

Won't cause a vacuum leak, but if you do this make sure you plug off the 2 connections on the main coolant lines where the hoses connect too or you'll have a coolant leak.

You could just go to a car store though and get the correct width hose and and cut it to length and easily install them.
