By default you are given male statistics, but if you click on the female, it will give you female stats.

I enjoy following that blog. It is always an interesting read. Saw this earlier and enjoyed it a lot. I really like the idea of determining what a white guy would like: does it sound right with "f*cking" in the middle? IE Van f*ucking Halen - yes or Alicia f*ucking Keys - no. Perfect in its simplicity.

That's awesome, I am however surprised that anything automotive related only appeared with the white guys, I would've thought it would have come up on the Latino list as well since they are as obsessed with cars as us white boys. Just goes to show that either us car enthusiasts are either too busy to join a dating site or those people that are on that site don't think that mentioning anything car related gets a girl turned on.

I also noticed that the word "stationed" showed up only on the lists for the Black and Latino males, guess white boys and Asians don't serve in the military. I also found it kind of odd that "WWE" showed up the list for Black males, I thought the WWE was only watched by teenage white guys.

Its only sampling Hindus on the internet. Open the statistic up to India as a whole and you've got massive illiteracy.

The sampling was only users of the ok cupid site -- I'm guessing that illiterate people don't usually write a personality profile essay to find a date over the internet.

Jesda, it's more limited than that. The statistics were mined from a small subset of users on the internet: those with okcupid profiles. What I also found interesting is that this is a dating site. I would think that the users would want to present the best possible image of themselves. But there are large groups of people that cannot type out a profile ate greater than an eighth-grade level? This country really is completely retarded...

What would really be interesting is to see some data on the matches for profiles written well versus at the 8th grade level. Do you do better writing at 8th grade level because that's the level people are reading at?

Actually getting the average American to read and write at an 8th grade level is pretty hard, with the amount that people text you would be surprised how many Americans under 30 can't read and write at a 6th grade level. When I went through the process to get into Philly PD I had to take a reading and writing comprehension test and you needed an 8th grade level in order to pass, which by the time you get to this test the group has already been shrunk down considerably, this simple test clears out about 65% of those that left from the original group of 1000 (which by this point is down to 200-300). So this test takes the eligibility list to roughly 75- 130 people. If more companies required a reading/writing comprehension at an 8th grade level only a small number of people would actually get hired.

Even the President has an apparently low literacy level... http://blog.lib.umn.edu/cspg/smartpolit ... ts_sta.php

Interesting reading about the Literacy level of the average American adult... http://nces.ed.gov/naal/

They did a review of messages and the chance of getting a response at some point. I think they tried to analyze the most common phrases or words in those messages that were ignored. Unsurprisingly, "text-speak" was often ignored. I believe they claimed that normal-reading messages with something linked to the other person's profile was the best bet.

I would highly recommend reading back to previous posts. There is some good information in there. I've pretty much enjoyed every one of the posts.
