Ive been searching, but still can not find any answers I have a ka24e, and im going to install my turbo stuff in july, i just bought an internal adjustable waste gate, but the lowest it will let me go is 7lbs, and i want to run about 5-6 but i am thinking of going external so i can run lower boost. I am wondering is there a certain place i need to get flange welded on my manifold, so i will not run into any problems? My turbo is side mounted is it even worth the money to go external when im running such a low amount of boost?

why would you go through all the trouble for 1-2 less psi? better yet, why only 7psi?

i decided i am just going to go with an external wastegate with like a .4 bar spring. My manifold is a log, and my exhaust flange is mounted more foward on the manifold, so should i mount the flange in the middle of my manifold on the log? if i do this the wastegate flange will be mounted behind my exhaust flange.

If its a cast mani its could be cheeper to buy a new one with the flange.

Mine cost a lot for the labor becuse I wanter to keep this mani and have one added in a way it would last forever. They spent a lot of time building up a flat spot with nickel (sp) and tapping holes. about $375

The best thing you could do is just run 7psi... Who spends $$ for less power?

luckally mine is not cast iron, so im hopeing to get a hole tourched, and the flange welded to cost me around 70 bucks at a muffler shop. but i dont know where on the manifold to get the flange welded to. My exhaust flange is mounted tourds the front of the turbo, should i still weld the wastegate flange in the middle of the exhaust flange? or in the miffle of the log on the manifold? anotehr reason im deciding to go external is since im using an t3/t4 and low boost 5-7lbs i dont want the turbo to spike

hybrid t3 for 5-7psi is crazy. sell me your turbo and buy a straight t3

and to answer the question, you don't want to plumb it from a single runner. that'll make it to dump only from that runner and cause a spike. you want it as close to the middle as possible.

if i was to run 5-7 lbs on my t3/t4, with my internal wastegate, do you guys think i will have boost spike problems?

As long as you're using a quality wastgate, there's no reason you should have any boost spike.

I ran 4.35psi ( 0.3bar spring ) on my TiAL when I first put my KA-T together, and it would boost to ~4.5 in an instant and hold rock solid.

Adding a MBC introduced a ~.5psi spike, but that's NOTHING to worry about.

BTW...what's making you so concerned about it?

Even a 1psi spike will do no damage to your motor.

???

its just my motor is sorta old 170k miles, and im still going to be running the stock mass air flow, so im scared 7lbs wth a t3/t4 is going to max out my mass air flow, and put more stress on my motor than 5lbs would

just make sure you have fuel and timing in check and forget the external wastegate.
