where do i hook the reverse gear signal wire to?

it says to hook to the backup light and its a purple wire the headunit is kenwood DDx512, also how hard is it to remove the key barrel in the trunk?thanksD

I'd run it to the reverse position sensor on the shifter linkage. Closer to the headunit and probably easier to get to. Location should be detailed in the FSM...normally I'd be happy to link to the specific page but I'm rushing out the door so I don't have time to look it up.

When looking at the FSM, save it to your HD as it can get locked up when viewing online.

ok so i have to hook the + wire on the reverse lamp to the headunit and i can't find the wire by the shifter so i though of running the wire all the way from the trunk. the question is is it ok to use 20 gauge wite to do it or do i have to use a bigger wire?thanksD

20 gauge is fine but you should be able to find that at the ecu.
