As everyone knows them as the pre assembled front struts .. I have looked online and they are not available for this year of pathy?

I really don't want to be playing with the springs ... starting to get cold outside :ohno:

Hey GG, I was looking for those recently. Couldn't find any except Gabriels for 97 to 99 Pathys. I think they may have stopped making them.

If you find some, let me know!

I'm planning on upgrading the suspension next summer and thought about this too; I didn't find any sets like you describe. Monroe makes them, but not for our vehicles.

I was planning on buying the KYB shocks recommended here, some springs, and new shock mounts and pre-assembling them before putting them on the car. That is, compressing the springs, putting them on the shocks, installing the shock mounts, and then decompressing the springs. I'm pretty sure the shocks can handle the force the springs would put on them. Maybe someone here can pipe in.

If you're not up for fiddling with springs (don't blame you), I'm certain you could have a shop assemble them like I described above. Then you'd have some pre-assembled shocks like you were talking about.

I can give you the model numbers for the parts I'm planning on getting if it helps. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I'm Looking at the following from Rockauto

KYB Part # 335032 GR-2 / Excel-G struts
Moog Springs
KYB Part # SM5329 Mount Components : Front; Mount, Bearing and Boot
I have a bud at the local shop that would assemble these for me or I can just rent the coil compressor from autozone.

I just did my front struts last weekend with the KYB Excel-G and Old Man Emu Medium duty coils. This was my first time working on struts, and it actually was pretty easy, just time-consuming to compress the springs. If you re-use your existing springs and not replacing them, there would be a lot less time spent with the compressors.

Keep in mind that besides the strut, coil, bearing, and mount, there is also the upper spring seat. If you want to pre-build the struts, then you'd need to buy the parts for that as well. Not sure exactly, but I believe it's part number 54036/54040 (metal seat) and 54034 (rubber insulator).

I got the spring compressors as loan-a-tools from Autozone, and they worked great. For the stock springs, one pair would be fine, but the OME MD springs were very iffy on just one set. I ended up going back and getting a second set from Autozone and used all 4 compressors to install the heavier duty springs. Just FYI, in case you're planning to upgrade the coils. Not sure how Moog compare to OME, but I'd think Moog is probably closer to the original OEM parts.

Yes, the whole assembly is designed to be removed from the vehicle as a unit, i.e. disconnect the brake line and sensor wire, disconnect the sway bar link, remove the 3 upper mount nuts, remove the 2 lower bolts that connect the strut to the steering knuckle, and then the whole unit comes out of the vehicle. From there, you compress the springs, remove the 1 nut on top of the strut, replace the various parts and then reverse the process. The single nut on top of the strut holds everything together, and it should be noted that if you remove it without properly compressing the spring, very bad things will happen.

Oh, you'd also need 54322, which is the mounting bracket with the 3 mounting studs. So basically, an extra $110 or so in parts if you want to pre-assemble your own quick struts. It's easy for me to say living in a warm climate, but I personally think it's easier to just do it all at the same time. Keep in mind, once the strut assemblies are out of the vehicle, you can take them to a warm place to work on them.
