Yes, the whole assembly is designed to be removed from the vehicle as a unit, i.e. disconnect the brake line and sensor wire, disconnect the sway bar link, remove the 3 upper mount nuts, remove the 2 lower bolts that connect the strut to the steering knuckle, and then the whole unit comes out of the vehicle. From there, you compress the springs, remove the 1 nut on top of the strut, replace the various parts and then reverse the process. The single nut on top of the strut holds everything together, and it should be noted that if you remove it without properly compressing the spring, very bad things will happen.atraudes wrote: I'm pretty sure the shocks can handle the force the springs would put on them.
