ok i have a couple questions if you could just answer all if you've done an rb swap

where did you get your RB20DET?where there any problems with it, if so, what?if it was shipped, how long did it take from when you ordered it to arrive to you? did you inspect the engine before purchasing?

all this is because im afraid of getting a bad clip, i've heard night7racing has parts missing and venus has things wrong with them but are good about getting them fixed and working with the customer. Also, i've heard dragdriftautox.com is really good, anyone used them? Thanks!

i got mine from ebay for $2000 shipped....

just be careful with ebay and buy from sellers with 100% positive feedback and with over 50 sells....

it came in good running condition with headlights, brakes, gauge cluster, etc.... we started it up in the clip with a can of starter fluid!

I'm not saying "search". But after you narrow down on who to order from, do a search about the seller on these forums and you will save yourself a headache later. Look for customers who are happy with the service they got.

I am saying search. this has been covered countless times and if you are too lazy to do your own research i dont think you should be even attempting a swap of this magnitude.

This man speaks the truth. You'd better be prepared to research, if you can't do a little of that then you are *not* prepared to do this swap. It is quite a bit more involved and complicated than a week or so of off-and-on wrenching.

I got my RB20 from Venus, we don't have it running yet but, here's hoping it runs great. It cost me $1500 for the clip and another $750 to get it shipped, since I live in VA :( Took about a week and a half or so for it to get to the VA terminal, BUT THEN the damn shipping company didn't have the equipment to get this 1400 lb. thing off the truck. So I had to rent a forklift for a day for $100. That sucked. Be prepared to deal with a bunch of bull$hit getting the clip delivered to your house.

The clip looked very clean when I got it, fairly low miles, but be prepared to deal with a dented oil pan (mine had a crater in it). I was able to get it banged out for just $15, you may not be so fortunate. Venus will work with you though, help you out with anything you need. My gauge cluster was a little busted up and they sent me another one right away (which was VERY clean, I might add :)) I heard that one guy got his 2JZGTE clip and the engine was knocking or something when he fired it up, so they sent him a brand new OE longblock from Toyota

I got my RB25DET (motorset instead of clip) from Dragdriftautox.com

I put 500 down, they got it in a week after that. It shipped out and took one week to get to Texas.

I had only one problem, my oil dipstick broke during shipping.

I will tell you honestly from all the research I did, that even the best supplier may send you a pile of crap. The key is to look for someone who will take care of it and resolve the issues, should they send you a pile.
