Where did this part come from and what is it?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

I just had the pleasure of replacing my all my timing components (and head gasket)

Upon assembly, I came across a small metal ring on the garage floor. I am almost sure its from my 89 240, but I have no clue where it goes, what it is, or its importance. Please help!

looks like the plug in the door that goes around the wires for the door harness. you said its metal though so beats me

yes it is off you 240 it goes in betwen the block and head it helps you line the head gasket up and keep it in place it goes in the block and then one of the head bolts goest thure it hope this helped and i dont think it will mess eny taing up but i am not a 100% on that

Yeah, basically a pin that helps keep the head and block lined up right.

if thats on a paper for size comparison then that looks like the dowel for one of the cam bearing caps. hope that helps you....oh, KAE engine
