First off, DONT tell me to search, I have already done so. And dont ask me to go check anything if you respond to this tonight, its WAAAY too cold and dark right now.

So my girlfriend and I were on our way back from getting something to eat, just carry-out so the car was never turned off. I left my apartment and I had P/S and had it almost all the way back, I went to change lanes to get into the turn lane and I realized that I had absolutely NO power steering. No pop, no grinding, no weird belt noises, just no power steering, and I haven't checked yet but there haven't been any leaks where I park my car. There IS P/S fluid in the car, so don't ask about that.

Everything else still works: air (A/C has never worked), heat, electrics, etc. Car isn't overheating, in fact the temp. gauge hasn't fluctuated any more than it normally would.

But like I said, I haven't done anything to try and fix/check what happened except turning the car off and back on to no prevail. Its like 15*F right now, ice everywhere, no garage, and no outdoor lights to help me out right now. Plus my hood is probably frozen shut, just like my doors were.

Help me figure out where my power steering went! Just looking for some possible scenarios as to what could've happened.

Thanks, kiddies.

Oh yeah, for about 2 seconds after I got out of the car I smelled something kinda funky, but more likely it was tire stench from them spinning on my COMPLETELY frozen road.

Did you check to see if the belt was still on the ps pump?

That was my first thought, problem was that it was below freezing and 1 in the morning. I'm about to go check it though.

Thanks, and if this isnt the case, i'll post it up in here.

Like I'd suspected, it wasn't the belt, the P/S pump had started to leak from the little seal at one end of it, and since it was just pooling somewhere in my engine bay I didn't see anything on the ground. Then the little metal elbow eventually cracked and when that happened was that the fluid just kept pouring out of it.... so I guess when I said

I was wrong... So does someone want to give me that little metal elbow?

^ I'll try and get a picture of it later, the cars at my dads in his garage since my apartments don't have garages. But its just a little metal elbow maybe 1/4" in diameter, about 1" long on each side of the bend. Its just an "L" shape, really.
