i have a 1991 240sx ka24de and need to refill a/c, but then heard i need to convert or buy a retro kit something like that to my a/c system since it takes the R12 refill and now they only make 134A. is there a a/c shop where they can refill my a/c system with the R12 type????

i need a shop in the SO-CAL area LMK!

thanks

I won't tell you where because R12 is very poor for the environment.

Chances are your car should be able to handle R134A without changing a thing. Take it to a couple of mechanic and tell them that you want to have your AC system flushed and have 134a put in. Some will tell you that you must change your AC compressor but insist on getting it done this way... it should be fine.

My car is also a 1991 and it has 134a in there with the same process... the labor of flush, new lubricant + 134a cost me 120$

if it goes well? then it should be fine thereafter... I recharged it again recently and it is fine again

of course there is a risk that this process will fail and your ac compressor will die but 240sx ac compressor is dime a dozen

in addition, i feel that it is a wear and tear type item, just expect it to break one day

R-12 an R134 are quite different. I would seriously suggest doing the retro kit, instead of just swapping for 134a. But I have never heard of having to change the compressor. It is possible to get R12, but it takes a special certificate to even buy the stuff. It may be the same price or cheaper to retro it, good luck!
