hey guys,

as much as i dont want to purchase conti tires, i need to get one. just 1. i recently had a puncture on the right rear tire which is un-repairable and i would rather replace just the 1 tire rather than all the other 3.

the tread is still pretty good and i think i can get a good 10k miles out of em.

anyone know where i can get the conti cross contact tire for cheap?

Dumb question, does the Rogue come with a full sized spare? I'm too lazy to go out in the garage and check for myself

I think its recommended that you replace all the tires especially since they only have 10k out of them which probably means the tread depth on the other 3 tires is considerably lower than the new tire you are looking to purchase...this will have an affect on the AWD system(dont quote me but that is what i remember hearing a while back)

regarding the spare...if you have the trunk organizer than no if not then yes...again dont quote me on that

my memory seems to be failing me :p

my rogue has a donut spare which sucks but as for the tread depth, it seemed good enough to me to not warrant the need for replacing any of the remaining tires any time soon or atleast not in the next 2 years with my current amount of driving.

Hey guys,

Yes, if you DO NOT have the Rogue trunk organizer, then you DO have a full size spare, AND with the same rim as the other 4 so it'll match perfectly.

However, unless your tires are quite new with minimal tread wear, it is not advisable to replace just one tire for safety reasons, you'd have to replace two at a time (both front or both back). Talk to any tire shop and they'll give you the specifics, I don't know exactly when you might be able to get away with changing just one but I think it's a pretty narrow range of safety. And perhaps someone on this forum that is more knowledgable than me can help out with some extra details too?

As zek mentioned, the Rogue S FWD does not have the full size spare, even though there is room for it (no cargo organizer). I guess Nissan feels it might motivate some people to opt for the SL or S AWD.

so basically to sum up,

you guys are saying that since a new tire will have essentially more tread than a somewhat used tire, i should replace both back tires?

for boston/cambridge driving (to those who might know the area) is it necessary?

The problem is we have not seen how are you other tires, so it is up to you.

But since your car is FWD and it is to install it on the rear, I believe you could be good with changing only one if the others have still quite a good thread.

If it was for an AWD, I would change two at a time, and if it was for a front wheel, I will move it to the rear.

I'm guessing here but 10K doesn't sound like "good tread" unless I'm talking about the soft and quick wearing summer tires on my sports car.

What's the actual remaining tread depth on the other tires? That's what you should be referring to and comparing to your driving conditions. Replacement needs to occur at 2/32. That increases to 4/32 if you deal with a lot of rain and 6/32 for snow as a rule of thumb, IIRC.

Personally, I'd always change at least in pairs unless the other tires are basically new but that's your judgment call to make.

In the USA, you get a temporary spare regardless of model or options.

Only certain Canadian models came with Full Sized spare tire and matching alloy wheel. The FWD S model and models with the Premium package (cargo organizer) came with a temporary spare.

This information can be found in the USA/Canada Model Differences thread... the link is in the Official Rogue FAQ.

Most online tire retailers will provide the tire(s) you need.

I'd personally recommend http://www.tirerack.com and replacing at least 2 tires at the same time. And you would want those to be on the front/drive wheels.

Almost every respectable automotive publication disagrees with you. Including Tirerack.

Sorry if my recommendation caused any confusion. I was making the assumption that given his location (MA) and the time of year (Jan) he'd want the most tread/traction on the front tires, so he could steer and go.

I've seen those articles and videos before ... I'd like to think no one with significantly worn tires is driving 45 mph through standing water .
