Ok. I installed an aftermarket stereo in my 91 hardbody king-cab, but I can't seem to come up with a good spot to install a set of rear speakers! Thought of putting them in the 'B' pillar, looks like there's a spot behind the seatbelt anchor, only to find that the cavity is not deep enough. Radio shop sold me 4x6 ovals saying that's what it calls for, but I don't know where to put'em!!!!
Any ideas or advice? If I have to, I may just build speaker boxes and put them behind the rear seats, but a nice clean install is preferable.

I gutted my jump seats, removed the plastic covers and mounted some 6 inch components in the panel, flush mounted. Seats pretty much useless for sitting and the area behind them gives decent acoustics. I simply removed the entire set up then once out of truck removed seats and cut a hole in pan big enough for speakers to clear. remounted and all is good, f you want to get some bass out of them( I have 2 12 inch subs not needed) get a acoustic baffle and mount on back of the speaker for better bass response.

That's what I thought! Was thinking of doing exactly the same thing with my beast. Have enough spare speakers kicking around to come up with something, thanks for the offer on the subs though!

I was not offering subs hehe my bad I meant I do not need bass response from back speakers as i am using 1 12 inch subs. Sorry that was not clear LOL. Yeah unbolt the seats and it is easy to see how to use the brackets and structure as a good base for speaker mounting. MY bass point was without a sub to get some bass from the mounted ones go to stereo shop for 10 bucks or less and get baffles(cover that helps small speakers make bass.)

All good! Thanks for the idea of totally removing the seats. I was thinking of leaving the seat bottoms in to build a platform on for my dog, but that can still be done over speaker boxes!
