Well, you can use the pistons from a SOHC for higher compression, as has been discussed in about 10 threads in this topic.

I also believe that JE manufactures 10.5:1 pistons, you may try them.

I think thats about it for production line pistons, you could always have custom pistons made.

hey thanx for the quick reply... I've read all the 2 million posts about the subject, but i'm still kinda confused...i know the motors are the same displacement so the pistons should work the same, but aren't the heads different? wouldn't i have problem with clearence or do they just interchange?

The fact that the heads are different is why the compression increases, but there aren't any clearance issues. : )

Theres another post, where Demcj lists the parts numbers for the 8.6:1 pistons, I would use those instead.

If the pistons work can you use anything else from the ka24e on the bottom end of the ka24de like rods, cranks and things like that

Want a cheaper way to bump your compression? thinner head gasket!! they do sell them for the KA24DE order it from a nissan dealership or nissmo or enjukuracing you can bump your 9.5 to close to 10 without clearance issues I am going to do that very shortly like by next year--right now I'm saving for the clutch/flywheel combo but guaranteed I'll be doing that next. That is the cheapest and easiest way to bump it.

Where can I get the thinner gasket for my engine? (DE)Enjuku only has one for the SR20DET. Also, is this mod perfectly safe, and worth doing?

I spoke with my buddy Jerry and he tells me to have your head shaved because he can't find a thinner gasket for the KA only sr20

As far as I know, nobody makes any aftermarket headgasket for the KA, thinner or thicker.

I've said it before, I'll try again, you cannot interchange pistons from the sohc into the dohc, YOU WILL BEND VALVES! valve lift and valve head diameter are too different between the different cylinder head designs.

I haven't heard of anyone bending valves with the dished or the flat top. The only way I could see that happening is with the domed.

I don't know which part number it is, but I'm imagine whichever cams are listed for the DOHC would fit your DOHC...?

Those look like bearing part numbers, not cam part numbers.

There should only be one part number for cams, and they don't sell them in grades. Unfortunatly, I don't know what the part number is though.
