Alan,

Does the Defi DIN gauge(s) basically come with everything you need in one package? I know it doesn't connect to the Link system, so are all the senders included with the gauges?

Also, since it has two temp and one pressure gauge, could I do Oil Pressure, Water temp and EGT? Would I need any additional hardware?

I love the idea of DIN gauges, and I also like electrical over mechanical gauges. Something about the possibility of hot, pressurised fluid spraying all over the cabin kind of sours me on mechanical guages.

pgbrian,

phase2 does not have defi din gauges

bad mojo,

all eletronical gauges have sensor/sender that remains in the engine bay and a thin wire runs back to the gauge, same with the defi din gauge.

defi din gauges are nice, but spl sells it for 530$ last time I checked. the best price I seen is 470$...

I may be able to find it cheaper or the same price again, if I do I'll let you know.

I been wanting to get the egt but I heard they are too slow to respond to rich/lean situation

and xs-engineering confirmed it:Quote »Q: CAN I USE AN EGT METER TO DETERMINE IF I樽 RUNNING RICH OR LEAN?A: Although an EGT’s reading may give you an indication of richness or leanness, it is, by nature, a slow-responding device and should not be used as the main air/fuel ratio-metering device. Accurate air/fuel ratio monitoring devices that are reliable start from $1200.00 on up. Any other air/fuel ratio meter should NOT be relied upon. [/quote]

Thanks, Loveless. I guess the Defi Din gauge could be used for water temp, oil pressure and oil temp then. That would leave a nice big boost gauge and I could call it a day.

$530 or $470 doesn't seem like a bad deal for electrical gauges. Like I said, the idea of mechanical gauges for hot, pressurized fluids makes me nervous. Maybe I'm just paranoid.

For what it's worth, I'd feel more comfortable buying from a place where I know I won't get ripped off. BTW, the I've bought the first part of my KA-T project, the good old Z32 MAF. I've got a long way to go.

thats funny, i was AT phase2 the other day and they had the DIN guages there.i looked at them and held them with my own hands.meh, but no need to believe me. what do i know?

also, there are 2 different versions of the DIN gauge. there is one for N/A cars and one for turbo cars. i forget which guages are in each one, but i know they are different.

Incorrect, there is only the RHD and LHD models that come in black and white.

All come with 1 pressure, 2 temp.

Our Defi pricing on the website is just to follow dealer guidelines, give us a call and we will give you the real price over the phone.

It works by itself. You only need to buy the proper fittings for the sensors depending on where you plan to place the sensors.

You couldn't do EGT with this gauge, the reading it only till 150 deg. C for the temp gauges.

Could prolly do something close to that and or beat it, keep in mind that pick-up might also mean tax.

Just gimme a call on Monday and I'll see what I can do, I don't have the pricing in front of me.
