...and the dealer. I thought about just getting the part I need from a salvage yard if it was in excellent shape. Anyone know of anywhere that has discounts on OEM Infiniti parts? I am needing the trunk nameplate which aparently comes with the part that holds the license plate also.

The crappy titanium finish is starting to flake off. I could just take it all off and just have it be chrome underneath....not sure how Id get the finish off. What do you all think?

Thanks,Nick

Remember the car you have in no way denotes the term "cheap."

Head to car-part.com and see if you can get one off a wreck. They wont have the specific part listed, but you can search for trunk lids and then contact the seller asking for the trim piece.

Warranty? I'd make Infiniti pay for it. I'm not usually one to mooch or cheap out on stuff, but it should not be flaking after only 4 years--especially not on a $50k dollar car.

thanks for all the tips , I will check them out. It is out of the factory warranty but I may call Infiniti up anyway and see if they would fix it for free.

Car-parts.com is a good place, I will just have to call around.

ThanksNick

Nope, I'll have to go with Wes on this one. Not that it should matter, but this place is in Dallas, TX, a couple miles from where I live.

Nick, if you are getting another trunk finish, let me know if you are willing to sell me your old one, I'm looking to do some special projects later down the road

TO marksport...

Are you wanting to buy just the trunk finishing plate with name and not the whole trunk lid right?

The nameplate and the part connected to it are aparently one piece, or at least that is how Infinti parts dept sells it. It is different on the 2003 and up, you can just buy the nameplate for the trunk.

So, make sure that this part I have is what you are looking for. If you are still interested I would sell the part to you. I have to recoup some of the price from Infiniti. They want $448.53 for a new one. I havent called any of the other sites mentioned above to see if it is cheaper.

Yeah, I called them again and they for sure dont have it. They said they needed one for a car they were trying to finish....Im guessing an 02 Q45.

I have not tried to call any of the OEM parts places listed above. I will try that later today...

The one from Infiniti is still $448.53 + shipping oh boy!

Once I do find that part I will be wanting to sell mine....

Later,Nick
