I've seached the forums, but I wanted to know which store sells reliable starters. I have the dealer in mind, but I wanted to know if Checkers, Pep Boys, or Autozone sells starters, and which sells reliable starters.

Doesn't have to be new. I have 2 used ones I need to get rid of.

I always prefer cheaper, maybe its just me.

you can rebuilt it yourself, buy the contacts or whatever it is called from the dealer and replace it, lube everything up as well and it should be pretty good

yeah but you have to pay for shipping and it's not guranteed that it'll work. If it fails, who is to pay for shipping for return/exchange?

You can get a rebuilt one from autozone for 134.99 and a new one for 170. Both have a lifetime warranty too so if it ever dies on you just bring it back in and they give you a new one. Not too bad.

I guess if you want cheap or used call or check out your local junkyards. I once bought a starter from autozone and it never went out the 3 year I had my civic.

denso released their oe products to the aftermarket, you can buy starters on densoproducts.com for a fraction of the dealer cost. I'd compare these new ones to the rebuilt you buy at autozone.
