I live in CA, near los angeles. I have an 89 240 and the engine is gettin old. it's not a K-T either. Does anyone have a link or know somewhere where i can get a used one for a good price.

Also, how much is too much to pay? What about for installation? After i get the engine i will use the car more so i want to get started as soon as i can. Thanks for any info that you can provide.

KA24DET isn't a factory engine is that's what you're thinking. There's not many compete engines with turbo kits for sale..

Although, there are many kits, and ways to piece together your own... You're going to have to search around and see what you can come up with.. You can always look in the classifieds for engines forsale, and buy a turbo kit for it. That is, if your engine is pretty much toasted. There's aslo the option of rebuilding your current engine, and turbo'ing that.

Searching is your friend on this forum. There's not really any questions that haven't been answered, so always search first, then search again, then ask questions if that fails.

You not gonna find any KA24DET's unless someone is selling the KA24DE that they added a turbo to. Now if your just looking for a KA24DE, ask around at shops that do SR swaps. Most of the time they're willing to practically give away the old motor. Else do what I did: put a WTB (want to buy) request in the classified forum. I got a response back in a few days: $100 for a 118k mi KA24DE and transmission (auto-unfortunately).

PS: I believe that since you have the KA24E motor I believe you also need to get the wiring harness and ecu.

i couldnt tell you who it was, but one time someone had their engine complete with setup for sale on here...had a jgs mani, t3/t4, etc...

i could tell you who it was if i saw their car, and you could see if he sold it, but were talking probably 4-5 months here

i think if you were serious about buying someones used kat they would be willing to sell... i mean like me for instance - if you weren't so far away - because i want to upgrade to something better... but anyway just keep looking someone will wreck their car or something. people love selling things in bulk rather than parting out. it's such a pain to take it all apart and try to sell everything.

KA24DET

KA = Engine series24 = DisplacementD = DOHC E = ECCST = Turbo

So a single cam KA is a KA24E

Looked like you weren't understanding the designations.

He's had that forever....I find it pretty funny actually. I remember him from Night Rider. That was one of my favorite shows growing up. I even bought a Formula 350 Firebird for my first "real" car. That was when 14's in the quarter felt really fast...lol.
