I think my turbo is making noise. Im not sure but in the case it needs replacing, where can i get a new one? Its a t28 off a S14SR20DET. I wouldnt mind upgrading to a GT2871R if it is a direct drop it with absolutely NOOOOO modifications or restrictors used. And where can i get that? Sorry quite new to this.

Could i maybe just send the stock one out to garret and have them re-build it? Its making noise but still boost full and runs hard. Whats the average cost in doing this?

1) Check classifieds for a used but good one.2) Call Garrett and see if they will rebuild it for you.3) All ball bearing turbos (i.e. gt2871r) need an oil restrictor to them, otherwise it's got the stock turbo flange to fit the factory turbo manifold.

4)MOST IMPORTANTLY!!! Find out if it IS your turbo that's making the noise first before you start throwing parts at it to fix it.

Thanks. Yea i will pull the intake off and all and check the play but naturally if i see the compressor wheels been hittin the housing, thats the problem.

I was just gauging possible solutions if the turbo is the problem.

Perfect excuse to upgrade my man. And didn't you run 12.3's w/ the T28, that car would haul a** w/ anything bigger on it.

Static X, putting Huntsville, AL on the map. I didn't realize they had that good of prices on parts.

none of the t28s are direct replacement with nooooooooooo modifications.. you'd need steel braided lines.. oil restrictor.. intercooler piping modified for some of the t28s outlets.. and not including the injectors maf and ecu if you want it reliable.. i say pick up another t25 for 100$ and brush it off..

Well its a T28 factory S14 turbo so I will be replacing it with that. I want in and out, remove and replace. Ive spent too many years messing with the grand national and have learned my lesson.

Im on under my friends name. This is 92Vert240.

I was shifting at about 6000-6500. Its all about the launch. 6000 RPM launch barely any spin. Thanks for the compliment !!!!

The problem was an exhaust leak either at the 4 bolt flange or the header. It go t a lot worse and was more distinct. Thanks for the links and all BTW. and the compliments on my john force driving skills lol.
