My buddy just bought a 00' Maxima and is looking to dress up the front a bit. Any one know where I (he) could find a nice looking chrome / billet grill insert? Not one of the mesh type but the kind that have thick horizantal chrome lines across with or w/o a Nissan logo cutout.

Thanks

For some reason, I can't find anyone who makes billet grilles for the 00-01 Maximas.

Stillen.com They are the only ones I know of with a billet grille. Spendy though. Also FYI it's a real pain in the a$$ to do the grille on a 00-01 Maxima. The grille on the 00-01 is molded out of the same piece of urethane as the bumper. You have to cut out the grille with a dremmel and build new mounting points. Look at the backside of the grille, the 8 screws hold on the "beauty ring" of the grille. Remove those 8 screws and the B-ring then look and see if you want to proceed. If you have any questions post it for me, I've been thru the frustration of replacing the grille already.

Thanks for the heads up! The Stillen Grilles are nice but pricey - i think i'm gonna check out some other 00 Maxima pics online & go from there. It seems like a lot of people do the mesh grille replacement but I don't want to be mainstream. Any pics of yours you can post?

Gotta figure out how to get pics from camera to computer... Mesh is easier because you can lay it over the OEM grilles. I built my grilles for less than $20. Buy "stucco lathe" from your local building supplier and cut it to fit. wrap the edges with door moulding and very, very carefully hot glue the moulding on the grille. Then very, very carefully hot glue the moulding to the edges of the OEM grille. Take the OEM Nissan badge and push badge pins thru the mesh into OEM grille and secure with some epoxy puddy on the backside of the OEM grille, to the pins. Sounds ghetto with the glue, but if done carefully looks proper. Everyone who has seen it thinks I bought them and doesn't believe I made them. The hot glue holds up very well, with no repairs necessary. I'll try to post pics later today or tomorrow morning.

Anyone that is instlling a grille in the 00' Max needs to look here first! I'm glad someone out there has actually done this before.

Can't wait to see the pics!

Thanks again.

Found this in the FAQ's link:

zerothread?id=53960

I read through it but don't really get it... I can't find the "Upload Photos" link that the tutorial references to. I know NICO made some changes on the site the last couple months so maybe the process changed???

Give it a try - I'm still trying to figure it out myself!

The "Upload Photos" button is in the little blue bar at the very top of the gallery screen.

Press the gallery button, right next to the search button. Sign into the gallery. There will be a thin blue bar at the top of the screen that says "My Gallery" "Album Admin" My Favorites" on the left side. On the right side, it will have "Home" "Search" "Profile" "Upload Photos". Click "Upload Photos" and browse for th picture on your hard drive to upload. Once you upload the pic, click Process Image, and the pic will then be in your gallery.

logged into the gallery, but the left side only says "my gallery" "my favorites" and the right side says "home" "search" "profile" "logout" obviously I'm not computer savvy, but I'd like to post the grille pics for srdrifter. Also, sorry for jacking your thread srdrifter.

You went through all the steps to register the account, including activating it through the e-mail sent to you? If so, try registering a new account. I just tried creating a new one, and I have the "Upload Photos" on the right side of the control bar at the top of the screen.

It was well worth the wait! The grille looks really nice, looks very professional! My buddy took a look, liked it, and i think he's going to be doing the same thing you did - not many more options. I'm sure I'll be the one who helps him install so I'll let you know how it turns out. Then I'll have to figure out how to post pics...

One part I left out, before you hot glue anything, scuff the surfaces to be glued with some 220 grit sandpaper so the glue will adhere properly. Any questions feel free to ask. Good luck.
