Where are the 11 speakers located?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

You can't replace them. The impedance on Bose speakers/amps is some weird number like 2.5 ohms. They don't make speakers that run properly at that impedance.

If you want to change them, you have to change everything including the headunit.

+1, very true. Hell, before you know it, they will be adding speakers to the roof liner.

11 speakers per car. I remember the days when they had only 2. Ok, I was like 2 years old.

Not true.. a direct replacement is not impossible retaining the current ohm load (just more limiting given the nature of the commonality of that particular ohm rating ), However if the output through the amplifier is put through a summing device/dsp which creates a pre- amp low voltage signal which can then be re amplified through a more powerful amplifier and outputted to a various assortment of speaker.

Result full retention of factory interface equipment and the benefit of a real audiophile system...

I have done it a few times before...

They mention 2 subwoofers...both are placed in the spare tire unit? What good is that? I also hear some bass outputted by the front speakers...is that normal? i thought the two subwoofers would handle it all..

The doors produce a mid bass frequency range... (which is a benefit) results in a more fuller and accurate reproduction of sound.

The dash is for the higher frequencies (puts you on the correct acoustical axises) they actually reflect off the windshield to your ear

The sub is designed to get the most out of the space and the least out of your pocket hence 2 6.5inch woofers, its a clam shell design from what i can tell and it will handle you low end frequencies..

This is a good Factory system (given the word Factory ) Keep in mind that it must appeal to all ages and demographics, so the more educated listener will be disappointed (but live with it) and the average listener will love it.. its a compromise like back leg room..

Yes, I'm aware that you can use something like a JL CleanSweep AND NEW Amp's that will allow you to run different speakers in the car. But that will cost a lot of money and is a lot more complicated than just replacing the speakers like you mentioned earlier.

If someone else were to read that, they might be mislead into thinking that they could just buy nice speakers and drop them in no problem.

My intention was to save someone from doing that (including you in case you didn't know what you were doing)

What?

I think Infiniti did a great job in placing the speakers in the locations to get a good quality sound. I think the system is awesome the way it is. You can mess with it if you like, but your warranty in the electrical area might be voided, if the dealer see's that you have changed your system. I have seen this before, be careful. Good luck.

I actually turned down the fade from the front by two bars so i could hear the rear speakers more and get to enjoy the full speaker range. Without turning it down, i only really heard the front speakers from the dash. Bass is up one notch, treble is up 3.

I see some people complain about the Audio unit in the EX and G frequently and I can see what some are talking about but if you have the Drivers Audio Stage feature (can be found by pressing Settings,Audio and scrolling to #6). It uses a specially designed system that turns the 11 speaker setup to a true 2.1 with 24bit digital compression. The sound is greatly improved to the driver and front passanger as the stereo alters the focal point of the sound waves. The system when on is designed to make it sound like the speakers on the drivers side of the car are ~1 meter from the drivers left side. Making you feel and experience the music is a way that no OE stereo can match.

The subs are located in the door. They ones with premium audio have 10" woofers in the doors. If you remove the door panel you will see what looks like a component set gone wild. The woofer and mids are located in the door with the high end tweets in the dash.

I see allot of people who fade the DAS to the rear which is sort of counter intuitive since it is supposed to be a 2.1channel focusing on the front.

Love it or hate it if you have the premium audio you payed almost $3k for it and for most it works perfectly, there are some out there who think it is insufficient.

If anyone in the DC area replaces their stereo components, I will buy you an oil change if you bring it by so I can check it out. This sounds like a challenging expensive task but if you can indeed beat the sound that it has in not just increased lows but balanced mids and highs. I really do not want to see anyone irreparably damage their new EX but then again I'm a skeptic.

Not to argue with an Infiniti technician, but the Bose system I have in my EX has the subs in with the spare tire, as was stated by kamiguy.

Huh your right, that's something the G doesn't have. Now that I think about it I don't know if I have ever removed the rear trunk finisher. In either case with the DAS active the main focus is in the front doors.
