Or just the fronts? I'm trying to figure this out. Anyone know this specifically?

Yes, all four calipers apply pressure through the pads to the rotor.

However, the bias is different, and most cars are set up with a higher front bias... The front brakes are designed to do most of the work, while the rears stabilize the car as it decelerates.

Not sure what the degree of bias is on your car in particular. Someone else may know, but it's not a figure that will matter much.

Hope that helps some.

+1

Your car employs EBD (electronic brake distribution) which means that all 4 brakes are always going when you brake, but the amount of force they each exert is determined by the car based on the pressure you place to the pedal and the way the car is reacting...

In RWD cars, take the 09 G37... The fronts still get a bigger caliper. Isn't it known that when you brake a bicycle (not exactly the same I'm sure but you get the point), they have stickers on the handle telling you to brake the rears first to avoid wheelies? I'm asking this question merely because I need to know whether to upgrade the fronts or rears first with a BBK in the event that I get a G37 coupe. Of course, there's electronics involved in distributing brake force but I figure our cars only brake the front wheels more because it's FWD.

You cannot compare bikes to cars - they have completely different dynamics to them.

Does a drivetraing really make a difference on a rolling vehilce? You're not employing any forward force when you are braking...

When you are braking, the weight and force of the car is shifted forward, hence why the vast majority (in some cases, 80/20) of the braking power is placed on the front of the car. All cars brake the front wheels more than the rear wheels - hence why you can still see some vehicles with drums in the back instead of disc brakes...

Good info there marlin, you are on point...

And if you were going to get a g37 in the future, id upgrade now to 19"s, and get the g37 big brake akebono kit... They fit the altima (with 19s or better with most offsets) and are significantly cheaper than aftermarket BBK's, you can get them on ebay from Riverside Infiniti. The Buy-It-Now is at $1,800 for ALL FOUR, but I think they take a best offer of $1,600 and maybe cheaper if you call them to order direct (they wont have to pay ebay fees).

Hope that helps!

Not exactly... Braking concepts are basically the same between a car and a bike (if you're a serious cyclist). The only differences are weight, center of gravity, and wheelbase.

When I'm out on one of my bikes, I would say about 75% of my braking comes from the front wheel - it's all about where you put your body and how you modulate your brakes.

Warning stickers are there to prevent stupid things from happening. Like a newb going downhill at a good clip and grabbing a fistful of front brake while leaning forward. Say hello to face-planting 101 (and maybe a lawsuit, depending on how litigious this person is...)

When i got my motorcycle license the book said that 70% of you stopping power comes from the front brakes. If i am flying and need to slam the brakes, i hit the front brake and throw all my weight over the back wheel along with using the back brake.

With a motor cycle you cant use to much front brake or 2 much back brake, either way you are going over the handlebars. Either with a wheelie or a high side.

Yes, I meant highsider... Not wheelie.

The akebonos come with the 37s package I believe.... And yes I would get them powdercoated as well, not only the silver I would want to get rid of, but the INFINITI on it as well lol!

And since you wouldnt need them ASAP once you buy them you can get them powdercoated with a quality 2 stage coat which allows BEAUTIFUL color schematics.

Ask Riverside Infiniti, as mentioned above ^
