When was my engine maufactured?

I am trying to find out the compression ratio on my engine? I am swapping my 1989 ka24e engine and replacing it with a 1990 ka24e. I know there were a couple sets of different dates to find out whether it has 8.6:1 or 9.1:1. How do I find out when the engine was manufactured?

there is a plate on the rear o the motor near hte bellhousing that has a manufacture date and a VIN on it.

The easiest way to check about the compression ratio is to look for the air intake temp sensor on the intake box. The lower compression models had this, the early 89 models didnt.
