I have had my Rogue for 3 weeks. I would like to wax the car now. Any recommendations if it is ok. I have all the car care stuff.

Hi, I did mine a day after I got it home. Did not use wax, found that a product called Finish First was the best polish I've ever used. Car always looks wet, lots of protection, very easy to use. The more you use it the better it shines. AWESOME polish, Can be found on ebay at 18.00 a can.

Go ahead and wax it! New cars are ok to wax from day one (even your manual doesn't state against it). Giving it a nice coat of wax is a great way to start protecting your finish from day one...

I would recommend Meguiars Gold Class, and using the Ulitimate Quik Detailer after every wash to keep the paint clean and shiny!

Forgot where I read this...

There is some new information on waxing/protection for water borne paints like those used on most new cars including the Rogue:

There is a process called 'drift' that occurs where the wax/protectant is slowly absorbed into the paint over time reducing it's effectiveness. Every paint suffers from this but water borne paints are more susceptible to 'drift' and as a result, you have to apply wax/protectant more frequently to keep the protection up. How quickly this occurs depends on alot of factors (temperature, type of wax/protectant, etc). Some say it happens in as short as 2 weeks after application.

There is no hard and fast guideline for waxing intervals. For many of us, it just depends on how much free time we have or the weather. Unfortunately I lack a heated garage, otherwise I would clean and wax my Rogue every 3mos. Winters here are a killer so I have to wait until a warm day to re-wax the Rogue. This means it' more like 6 mos between waxings during winter time :-(

Personally, I use Meguiars NXT Tech Wax. It's a synthetic wax that is a little easier to apply than traditional Carnauba based waxes and lasts longer. When possible, I apply some Quick Detailer after washings to keep the gloss up. I also use microfiber towels to apply and remove the wax as they do not leave lint behind like terry cloth.

Keep the shiny side up... and um.. shiny!
