when removing power steering......

Im going to remove my power steering on my s13 with a sr20.The pumps leaking from somewhere,So im just going to get rid of the whole mess.And i was wondering what the best thing to do with the holes in the rack after i remove everything.Sould i plug them or leave them open?-Thanks,

Plug them.Once you've disconnected everything, turn the wheel all the way back and forth several times to force all the fluid out of the rack, then plug the holes. (Catch the fluid in a container if it bothers you)

And out of curiousity, are you aware of what steering will be like without assistance? I don't mean to intrude, I just don't want you coming back and b****ing me out for not warning you of how much harder turning the wheel will be. :-/
