After perusing the Infiniti 2009 maintenance schedule, I'm slightly concerned about my transfer case and differential fluids. At around 15k, and every 15k thereafter, the schedule alludes to "inspection" of these fluids, but not a strict requirement to change them. I randomly drive my '09 G37x hard, and the town I work in has horrendous roads, but I don't believe that qualifies for "harsh conditions".

When is everyone changing the diff and transfer case fluids on their X's, and the transmission fluid for that matter?

Tks,
Paul

In many many years of driving and owning many many vehicles I've never changed differential or manual transmission fluids. My previous 06 Infiniti was traded in at 171796 miles. My 1980 VW Diesel Rabbit had 246k miles,my 1988 Mazda had over 200k miles, and my 92 Lexus ES300 5 speed over 100k miles.
Never changed those fluids.
I only change engine oil and oil filters every 3500 to 4k miles on every vehicle I've ever owned with long engine life results.

Changing those fluids is a waste of money and a good profit item for those that try to bamboozle & scare the uninformed in my opinion.

If spending money makes you feel good and sleep better at night then go right ahead and change your fluids

Just my $.02

Totally with you on this. All I've been doing is oil/filter, and air filter changes. It only has 50k on the odo, but I figured that 50k is a good time to check. I don't even do my own tire rotations any more, so I usually just have the techs check boots and the such while it's on the lift. The maintenance also mentions lubing the drive shaft, but I'm under the impression that no one is doing that either. Thanks!
