Pretty cool story

I love this damn car. I finally got it back after 4 months of downtime after the motor blew to some careless overboosting, ringland destruction. I just got it back on Saturday and have been driving it hundreds of miles a day to break it in because I can wait, im actually at 1000 and its friday. I changed everything from the water pump to the bearing to the pistons to cams so ive been anxious to see her shine. Well tonight was her night.

I normally dont condone street racing, and im sure some will hate, but I havenet had the car for 4 months and it was a 2004 twin turbo cl600 with exhaust and two guages on the piller (ricer benz, only in L.A.) I spoke with him after the races he was a nice guy. here are the stats incase you dont know:

Twin-turbocharged 5.5L 36-valve V-12 engine493 hp @ 5,000 rpm590 lb-ft @ 1,800 - 3,500 rpmMultiple car mags ran it in the low 12's 1/4 mile.

1st race: Me at 9 psi, around 75 mph freewayI was infront of him and he was up my *** trying to pass and the other lanes were full, I put it in 4th and moved one lane over as soon as he takes off I Floor it. I was looking at his headlight untill I shifted to 5th around 115 and shortly thereafter my speed limiter hit, but he was definalty pulling near the end.

2nd race: still 9 psi, off a rolling start around 10 mphwe exit the freeway and come to the stop sign and are going to make lefts into a two lane street. We both take the turn slow and get next to each other around 10 mph, he signals me and we floor it. I jumped ahead and quick shifted sliding my *** around. The shift puts me ahead a bit more and until the end of second I was still ahead. I hit third and by the end of third he was a bumper ahead of me, very close race, barely pulling. At this point Im already tripping happy about my cars performance and so excited, my heart was racing.

He pulls next to me and we chit chat a bit, oh yeah, fast car, blah blah... He asks me what im running and I say on low boost 9 psi. I havent been any higher than 9 psi since the motor build, but my old high boost maps are still saved. Im thinking I cant let this one slip, ill hate myself. I switch to 12 psi and hes like let go again so we got at it again.

3rd race: me 12 psi, around 35 mph 2nd gear.We signal it and floor it, I jump ahead and pull a half car till end of second. Hit third tires chirping and continue to pull all the way till the end of third with him over a car back. Then I saw a popo ahead and put the z brakes to use. The car was pulling like a bat out of hell, easily would have pulled in 4th, its actually the cars best gear I wish I could have used it.

After all the hard work it really pays off when youre machine comes to life and is a monstor. Im still at 80% duty cycle so a little time on 12 psi and ill crank it up to 15-16 and see what kind of numbers she puts down. Im so proud of her.

We can all say how bad street racing is and that we don't condone it. But I know everyone here has taken someone on, on the streets. Thats a great story! I hope mine runs as wel when it finally gets going

its had to be an 04" and up because it was the twin turbo model. Cool thing is in my area there is alot of higt end sports cars, tons of 911 turbos, ferraris, lambos. Anyone that lives in the burbank/glendale/passadena should be able to vouch for that.

Awesome!!

Its good to hear you are up and running and even better to hear, you are this fast!..

As happenstance would have it, I was just driving form the airport after a multi-hour return flight from the Nico Nationals, back to my hotel room when..

A pair if blue headlights isapproaching afst in the rear.

I let him pass as see a CL65 Badge.I know he will beat me but I try ( 04 350Z here bonestock)

DOwnshift to forth ( at 80) and its own,He walks me but I keep clining and he doesn walk me quickly at approx 130 mph I shut it down as he isnt slowing down and still oulling at that point about 12 car lenghts ahead an I am in 6th at 130 mph.

Fred..

Nice kill!

Those things are monsters... in two ways. They weigh around 4,000lbs!That's a lot of displacement, then F/I on top of it. I remember reading that they easily pulled 800lb of torque while testing that engine configuration... but they didn't have a transmission that could hold it.
