I just swapped this motor into my s14, and started it for the first time yesterday. When I first started the motor was running way too rich, idled very rough and kept dying on me. So this morning I check the vacume hoses then removed the spark plugs sanded them with 1000 grit sandpaper and tried to start the car again. As soon as the motor started it revved all the way to red line it freaked me out so I tried to turn the key off but the motor kept running so I got out of the car as fast as I could and unplugged the injectors to kill the motor. The motor ran before I did the swap and Wiring specialties did the wiring. What would cause this? Was the wiring harness done incorrectly? Do I have a bad throttle position sensor?

Could it be a bad ECU?

Check the IACV and maybe the TB? maybe the flap is opened enough to rev the motor that high

I just rembered that I adjusted the idle screw on the TB last night. Could that be the cause?

I really doubt that the idle adjustment would be able to get you that high. You probably have a huge vacuum leak or the throttle jammed to get that high.

Believe it or not it was the idle adj. screw. I feel like an idot oh well lesson learned. I probably still have a vacuum leak because the car is running like crap and is way too rich and needs to be tuned.

Check your TPS sensor with a voltage meter, should be at .35-.45 closed throttle and between 4.0-5.0 volts at wide open throttle.
