I just purchased a 2012 M35h a month ago, and the data in the Navi for my area seems pretty outdated. How frequently does Infiniti release updates? Is there a particular month in which they normally release these? I'm coming from Lexus that released once a year around this time.

What is the cost of the update? This is a hard-drive based system, so I presume that means I'm screwed, and have to get the update done at a local dealer (I was able to buy the Lexus DVD update at a large discount on-line before).

Finally, I keep thinking that I saw somewhere that one or two Navi updates are provided for free. But I may be confusing this with my wife's new Volvo. Is there a free maps update for the M?

Thank you for any information!

Usually our updates come out late november. You can go online at www.navigation.com for details and to purchase. For our hard drive nav you will purchase a code at $149 + you will take this code to the dealership for activation/installation with a fee of $99 (at my local dealership). Hope that helps... :bigthumb:

Thank you for the information. This is even worse than I thought. Lexus updates were a rip-off at $175 (but you could buy one for $150 online), and Infiniti ups it to potentially $250. That's a disappointment.

Do they ever put these updates on sale?

You can buy the old disks, but you need the code which you have to buy new for full price. Infiniti dealerships jack up the price just cause they know they can. The work takes 10 minutes, with most of that just cause the files have to copy and the tech isnt doing anything. Its a complete rip off.

No guarantee you will get updates in your area either, Navteq sucks. They rely solely on user updates for their system to fix things. My advice would be to buy a Garmin as it will work much better and is a lot cheaper.
