I have 97 Q that has 214,000 miles on it. Does anyone know how long the ignition coil suppose to last or when to replace them ?

Thanks,

They last until they fail. Replace when broken. If you have a misfire on a particular cylinder, swap the coil from a different cylinder in and see if the misfire moves w/ the coil. If so, bad coil. If not, keep looking...

I don't know what it is but when I'm accelerating up hill or pick up the speed I get light knocking sound when the engine is warmer or a hot day.

In the morning or the evening or any cooler time of day are fine. Just during warmer temperature days.

I read an article some where that if the ignition coil gets weak it will create more heat in the upper part of the engine due to less spark.

Is that possible?

Possible? Yes. Likely? No. Are you using premium gas? What oil weight are you using?

I just changed the coils on my 99t and gained back 3-4 miles to the gallon... Feels like I just jacked it up and ran a new one under it....

About that knock audiovisiony33, in a good quite place mash the brake and give it some gas and see if you hear that knock... If you do you might want to check out some main bearings.... Course it could be just the rotten gas we are getting these days.... I try to fillup with real gas if I can find it....
