When do the 2008 Nissan Versa models come out?

Does the price on the 2007 come down if they/when they do?

Thanks!

I'd imagine '08 Versas will arrive around August or September.

Yep, you should see the new models roll in around that time. Generally, most manufacturers start building and releasing around early fall late summer. The earliest I've ever seen a manufacturer release next years model was late May by Ford. I find that they are somewhat overzealous with their cars. They began talking about new features that would be available in '08 in Nov of '07

August/September would be a good guess. Usually all the manufacturers start their year-end blowout sales around labor day. One of the best times to buy a car... the '08's are coming in on trucks, manufacturers want to get rid of their '07's and offer special financing or rebates, and some dealers will further discount the cars to get people on their lots and away from their competitors' lots.

The other best time is just before new year's because the manufacturers usually stop rebating their old cars right around the new year, which makes any leftover stock EXTREMELY hard to sell. So dealers will once again get into panic discount mode.

I was out on Dec 30th this last year helping a friend test drive cars because he wanted to get an idea of what to replace his '92 Thunderturd with. One Hyundai dealership offered him an '06 Sonata V6 Limited (dealer demo with 400 miles) with every option... and I mean EVERY option... for $18.5k, the price of a base '07 sonata 4-banger with cloth and stick. Too bad he wasn't in a position to buy at that time, that was a hell of a deal on a hell of a car.

Thanks for the info, I don't think I can wait that long to get a better deal or to get a car. Summer is coming and I have no AC in my car, its been too many years now.

Any news of what's to come from the '08 models?

well...for starters the SL rims are different now, on TIIDAs at least. I'll try to get some pictures of the new ones.

There aren't likely to be any significant differences between an 07 and an 08, since the V was brand new for 07.

I'm really hoping that they will make some changes. Especially with all the minor complaints on the board.

As far as the JDM Tiida is concerned, no rumor of any kind of change in the near future is circulating. The Tiida had the last modification in December 2005, and it's been unchanged since. The total redesign is anticipated in 2009 or 2010 (calendar year).

I just picked up an '08 on Friday for my wife (I'm in Ottawa, Ontario). All of the dealers here had a load of them on the lots.

We got the SL/CVT and the only difference is in the HU...they have included the 6cd/aux in HU as part of the SL now (bear in the mind, the trim levels are different in Canada than the US from what I've read). Everything else (rims, colours, etc.) is exactly the same.

Congrats... you get to claim that you're the first forum member to pick up their '08! (Sorry Woogie... you're two weeks short! )

Yeah AUX is the same as line-in. It looks to me that they just swapped in the HU from the tech package as it's called here.

I'm supprised the 08s are not more out there...the dealers here all had a ton of 'em each (> 10 each) in all kinds of trims and options.

Dying to get it on Tues. We're trading our Maxima because we just don't need something that big anymore. Even with the gas milage variances here, it just has to be better than the Max

They are arriving now.

When my wife bought her Versa earlier this month a truck dropped off a couple of 08's at the lot.

They were exactly the same except the lower mileage ratings.

From MotorTrend:

"Smallest player on Team Nissan rolls into its second season a near carryover, with XM becoming the sole Satellite Radio provider and the upline SL sedan gaining a standard 4-sp automatic transmission. S and SL hatch and sedan share funky style, a spacious, comfortable cabin, and peppy 1.8L, 122-hp four and offer a slick CVT option."

one more:

The Daily Auto Insider Tuesday, June 26, 2007 June 2007 Nissan North America, Inc. announced pricing on the 2008 Nissan Versa Sedan and Hatchback models, which are now on sale, according to a company news release.

The starting Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the 2008 Versa Sedan 1.8 S is $12,550 with 6-speed manual transmission and $13,350 with the 4-speed automatic transmission. The Versa Sedan 1.8 SL with Nissan's advanced Xtronic CVT(TM) (Continuously Variable Transmissions) is priced at $15,550.

For 2008, the Sport Package is now an option on the Versa Sedan 1.8 SL model (previously available on Versa Hatchback 1.8 SL). The Sport Package adds a higher level of performance styling with a rear spoiler (roof-mounted for Hatchback, decklid-mounted for Sedan), lower body side sill extensions, unique front and rear fascia (Hatchback) and chin spoiler (Sedan) and fog lights.

The 2008 Versa Hatchback is offered in four models: Versa Hatchback 1.8 S 6-speed manual transmission at an MSRP of $12,650; Versa Hatchback 1.8 S 4- speed automatic transmission at $13,450; Versa Hatchback 1.8 SL 6-speed manual transmission at $14,650; and Versa Hatchback 1.8 SL with Xtronic CVT(TM) at $15,650.

I'm glad I got an 07 since I already had a Sirius subscription... Also wouldn't the SL sedan have a CVT instead of an auto?

That's just their way of saying that it's now physically impossible to get a 6spd manual stock on a SL Sedan.

Which, has pretty much been the case for the most part, with the 2007 SL Sedan 6spd being a thing of myth and legend.

I had the V serviced today at North Texas Nissan in South Denton, TX. They had 2(?) 2008 Vs on the lot. One was an S model with cruise and the other was, I remember, an SL. I remember the S priced at 15,550 or so and the SL around 17,850. I didn't write anything down to enter here, so I may have the $$ off a little bit. Their inventory was 9 HBs and 6 sedans. One sedan had a temporary tag indicating someone purchased it. None had ABS. All had the power package and a couple had the sport package.

NTN is a high volume dealer around Dallas and always has Vs, but not for long. One recent sales gimmick was a package with an Altima and a Versa.

The V has logged 11,685 since Labor Day 2006. Gas mileage is 27+ around town and 37+ out on the highway. My wife drives with air 100% of the time.

Well, we picked up our 08 today. All I can say is...where has this car been all my life?! I'm stunned about how much car it is for how little cash. Amazing really. So far:

It feels just as comfortable as the Maxima we tradedit's quieter than the maximathe CVT is VERY peppyLots of storage space insideLove the fact that the 08SL comes with the 6CD/mp3 stereo (hell, even wife likes this!)

Overall, I'm very happy..and it's not even my daily driver (mine is the Mazda3). Kinda wish we'd traded the maxima last year...uhhh..nahhh!

Hi, brand new Versa owner here: Just put in a deposit for an 08 SL manual, total cost (including taxes, etc) just under 20,500 Cdn. However, the dealer here in Toronto said I may have to wait until September or October for my particular model (basic red with beige interior), as there were none in the region and it would have to ordered off the line in Mexico! Was he feeding me some bull? Maybe he should put in a call to Ottawa!
