Hi, there...

I have 1995 Infiniti J30 with about 110K miles on it.J30 manual tells me replace the timing beltat 105K miles.

I want to know when you had, if any, the timingbelt problem. Can any of you answer your casefor me? I know "a stitch in a time saves nine.".But I cannot afford it, right now. (dealer saysabout $600 for that)

I also need to do automatic transmission flushfor my J30, which is about $200 at the Infinitimechanics because I have never taken care of theautomatic transmission flush since I bought myJ30 at 57,900 miles five years ago.(now, it is about 110,000 miles.)

To make a long story short,When did you have, if any, the timing belt problem with your Infiniti J30?

Thank you in advance for your kind responses !!!

Your living on the edge ..600 for a belt change or 2K for a new engine .

Risky stuff. When it breaks the motor is thrashed before you know it happened .

I got my belt and waterpump done for just under $400 so shop around. I bought my J with 175k miles on it and the belt had never been done. I was scared to death and had it done just a few weeks after buying it.

You are also living on the edge with your transmission. Once again, shop around and get a better price or just do it yourself. You can buy a transmission filter and gasket for about $20 and then just get some transmission fluid. It's an easy job.

Wowzers. the 93's didnt have the Kevlar belts !! you were MOST lucky on that one Mine has a plate on the leading edge of the underside of the hood saying the belt was changed at 68K . with a 105K rating on the Kevlar belts I got a while to go.

I would get your belt replaced pronto. The engine is of what is called an interference design. If that belt goes your looking at an engine replacement which costs much more than getting your timing belt changed.

Thank you !!!

I had the automatic transmission oil flush at the Kearny Mesa Infinitiat San Diego, CA a few weeks ago.

I checked in my J30 for the timing belt replacement today.Along with the timing belt job, the service consultant suggestedthe replacement of water pump, thermostat, crank/cam seals and by-pass hose.

For the tensioner, he will decide whether he will replace it or notafter checking the tensioner directly...

Thank you for your comments, again !!!

if you'd like the parts far cheaper than the dealership, I have alot of stuff I bought for my j30 that I didn't use because I bought my q45...I think I have a pair of rotors, a new timing belt, water pump, and some other stuff as well. If you're interested hit me up at [email protected]
