I like true JDM, one day I want to make my 240, as close to a kouki 180sx as possible. I've always loved pure JDM products, form the amber/clear turn signals, to oldschool SA3s. JDM isn't rice, but a ricer can turn it into rice.

yes... (internet sarcasm sucks...)

Id have to say its because of the mentality, Rice to me is typicaly people who make themselfs "racecars" by slapping a buch of astetic stuff on the on the car so othrs can tell how cool they are and how much money they have spent, and that CAN be along the same lines of what alot of JDM guys do now adays(or maby the JDM guys style got punked by the rices?) kinda hard to put into words EXPECIAL over the internet were its so easy to be mis-understood. but seriously do you think the majority of people doing sil. conversion are doing it because of better lighting?! id have to say thats wrong... the better lighting may be a deffinate bonus but Id hazord to guess that the majority of people driving around with sylvia front ends have it cause its JDM. Personaly I preffer the USDM front but I guess thats not really the question here...

serious Im stealing that for my signature...

to correct your (i preffer the USDM front) its not USDM its just the JDM nissan 180sx front on the silvia s13 body, so in all reality its still JDM aint it lmao

Well, since it got resurrected, I must agree. When did the term "JDM" become the definition of ricer idiocy? Like a ricer at my work just did the "JDM hood prop mod" on his 98 Ford Escort. That means you stick lug nuts and longer bolts in the hood mounts so it sticks up about 1" higher in the rear. Looks like s*** body work to me.

Stuff like this, come the F on. It really makes me mad when I see stuff like this riding down the road. Like, I feel actual anger and hatred from the bottom of my soul.

This is what people are calling JDM according to this thread. But, I havent noticed that. JDM still means to me what it has always meant and is not riced or played out.

Lol. Up until 2 seconds ago, every time i'd see a car with an unnecessary cosmetic mod or a performance mod that actually does nothing (like twin mufflers with 3" tips mounted at 45 degree angles), I'd go on a 2 minute rant about how ugly and stupid it is. It JUST dawned on me that all these years i have been making fun of other people's way of expressing themselves. I know for sure it's not OK to laugh at how others express themselves. Even if it disgusts you. As long as what they're doing isn't breaking any laws, let them do what they do.

No, it's ok to laugh. Just never forget that the humor is based upon you difference of opinion rather than an objective fact.

People used to clown on my white GT-R wing bolted to a black car. That's fine, they had different priorities than me. They thought it was a style mod so not painting it didn't jive. I did it to improve my rear traction at speeds most of those cats never experienced so the mismatch meant nothing to me. We cool.

One guy asked "when are you gonna paint that damned wing?" I just said, "as soon as that makes the car go faster."

Wow, after seeing one of my first threads on here 6 years after the fact I have to say, I was just as stupid as the rest of these noobs that come on here. I can't believed I used Superstreet and SCC as a source of legit information and a bullet point for a "serious" conversation.

Oh and how the hell did this get dredged up from the archives? Really, what keywords were used to find this, bc JDM and Rice would have brought up several thousand threads/posts.

Fixed...you missed a comma. :)

In retrospect I think that SCC was actually one of the better magazines that was out at the time, and it's only fitting that SCC subscriptions were changed over to Modified 'scrips as that is now the best one out that's still available.
