Someone on the forums is selling Brembo cross drilled rotors front/rear for a good price. He doesn't have ABS, and I do have ABS...will this make a difference? I don't see why it would, just need your wisdom!

yes. yes it does. I think the diameter is different, and the abs rotors might have a slot for the abs sensor....not sure about that, but I do know it makes a difference, from having to order many, many parts for cars at my job (NTB...)

NO. That information is completely incorrect. ABS and non-ABS brake rotors are identical. There is NO size difference, and the ABS sensor is located on the spindle, reading the wheel hub. Nissan part numbers change with base or SE/LE models, nothing else. The words "think" and "not sure" shouldn't be used in a reply. That's how misinformation gets tossed around.

So if it doesn't matter whether or not the rotors are used on ABS/non ABS, then why, on sites like http://www.pdm-racing.com, do they differentiate between 4 lug ABS and 4 lug w/out ABS?Thanks

see, "think" and "noyt sure" are qualifiers, meaning if I can be wrong. and why shouldnt I say that I wasn't sure? thats better than stating it like I knew absolutely, which, is in fact how mis-information gets spread around.

-chetand I go with the above on the "if theres no difference, why cant you interchange them without problems" last time we put a non abs rotor on something by accident it caused the sensor light to go off....

so theres gotta be SOME difference.

PDM would be better to answer that. I don't have any idea why they would differentiate. Nissan doesn't, no reason why anyone else should. Even when there is a difference, say a caliper, they all crossover. I've put 91 front calipers on my 96 before, and put 98 ABS calipers on a 93. Even the brake pads are the same on both models, so there can't be too much difference.

why don't you just buy them and put them on? if they don't work right you'll find out, trust me : ) i mean, really do you even need brakes?

Yes, actually, I really DO need brakes...the car shudders pretty bad when hitting the brakes past 40mph, and the brakes pulsate pretty bad as well...overall, the thing stops in much more time than it should for a rather light car and driver....

well, by that thinking then i 'need' brakes as well, slowing down is just for pussys, you can always speed up ya know....

"on something", or on a 240SX? Different cars use different setups for the ABS sensor, I'm certain on *some* cars, it would matter. On 240s, it doesn't. Don't mean to break you down, but this is a 240 forum.

nah, its cool. I just know that on certain things like integras and such, a ABS disc has a difference in its construction(composite maybe, sensor, diameter, etc)....if its not that way with 240's, than I stand corrected.

According to my 1990 FSM the front rotors differ between abs/non-abs. Different thickness. You will have to make sure you get the right one for YOUR car. ABS matters!

Bringing back from the dead.... What about pads, do the pads differ between ABS and non abs?
