When accelerating our EX35 the RPM's go to 6,000 but there is no acceration !!!

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Maybe you 2008-2010 EX35 owners have experienced this problem !!! We have a 2010 EX35 AWD and on 2-seperate occassions this problem has happened and it has nothing to do with the floor mats and the gas pedal or hitting the brake and the gas pedal at the same time !!!

My wife was driving 60 MPH and she wanted to pass the car in front of her, so she gave it the gas and the RPM's went to 6,000 but the Ex35 didn't increase in speed, at all !!!

Yesterday the same thing happened again and she wanted to pass the car in front of here, accelerated with the RPM's hitting 6,000 but no increase in speed !!!

Any ideas or answers ?

Sounds odd.

Did you try it?

Are you talking about a delay of around 0.5 - 1 second between when you floor the gas pedal and when the car starts accelerating? If so, then I've noticed that too. I mentioned it in the middle of this thread: zerothread?id=429268

SteveTheTech said this: "I highly suspect this is a momentary delay programmed into the software to prevent high torque damage to the transmission and transfer case. I have experienced this and I think that it wants to also ensure that you are not just stepping into for a brief second, as a way of trying to ensure comfortable ride quality."

Do all cars behave like this?

I think I've noticed this too, but really only when I literally floored pedal once or twice. It was still accelerating for that 0.5-1s mind you, but nowhere close to the kind of acceleration that happened right after, which was like being in a rocket. It was a pretty damn good feeling I must say. I thought it happens like this because for a car that's still after all an all-purpose family car, they didn't want to make acceleration like this happen instantly if you step on a pedal by accident, but rather to wait a moment to see if you're really sure that you want to accelerate *that* much. This happened when accelerating from a rather low speed to flooring the pedal, in a highway acceleration lane. The problem that topic starter describes sounds like an actual problem though, and I haven't experienced anything like that. Also, when accelerating in normal, gradual way, I haven't ever noticed any lag or anything like that. Only noticed that the DS mode shifts more noticeably and aggressively, while D feels more smooth (except then when I quickly floored it :P )
