ok, i havent done much research on wheels/tires and im prolly gonna get flamed for such a broad questions that prolly occur in this forum very often but i need some help. right now i own a 95 240sx base model (4 lug) and i am hopefully going to put around 250 rwhp in the near future. i dont think my stock steelies will beable to keep descent traction with that amount of power so i am looking for a upgrade. ive been looking around but almost every online wheel stores sell no wider than 7.5 on 17" wheels. i was really looking for at least 17x8 all around so i am able to rotate the wheels. is 8" wide tires overkill for 250 rwhp and i should just take some 7.5" with nice sticky tires? my priorities for wheels is 1. cost 2. quality 3. weight and 4. lookswith this in mind what type or wheel manufactuers produce the type of wheels im looking for and where am i able to get them? thank you for sticking with me if u already havent stopped reading.

17x7.5 will be plenty. I always argue that smaller(16") wheels will be even better....less chance of bend, lower purchase price, better ride quality, generally less rolling mass, and also in greater circulation(less rare, you'll be able to find one if you destroy one). Less attention too. No need to attract would-be thieves...

Concerning traction, you'll find several sticky tires to fit a 17x7 or 17x7.5" wheel. Anything larger might be overkill(waste of money you could have spent towards lighter, stronger wheels/stickier tires).

My priority list for wheels:1st: will it fit?2nd: if it fits, is it strong enough?3rd: if 1 & 2 are true, does it help or hinder performance?(is it too heavy? am i thinking about response, or bling factor?)4th: if it fits, has proper load capacity, decreases rolling mass, what is the cost? If it performs to a high standard, cost should be a non-issue.

This isn't a cheap hobby, and it's always been my opinion that wheels/tires should be a high priority.

Absolutely 100% of all performance mods are transmitted to the road through your wheels and tires. Get the stickiest tire and the strongest/lightest wheels you can find. This is the price of admission, if you're an enthusiast.

yep. Its the one things that contacts the road on your car, dont skimp on it.-chet(also, a wider tire does not necessarily mean more grip, a 215-40-17 or 2255-45-17 ina sticky tire will more than hold 250rwhp)

Stick with a nice 17X7.5 and a good Summer performance tire and you can't go wrong.
