Tuesday I am picking up my new '97 240sx, and I am planning to order wheels and tires by the end of the week. I am new to 240's and am pretty lost. My basic questions are, what do you think would be the optimal wheel size for my car 16x7 or 17x7? Also, what would be the optimal offset for these wheels? All I seem to be able to find are +44.

Right now I am planning to run 5Zigen FN01-RC's with Koni shocks and Eibach springs. I do mostly highway driving, see little to no track time, although I hope to start doing some HPDE events this spring. I have searched a lot, but seem to find little useful information. Thanks for any help you can give me.

You're in 240sx territory now buddy! 17x7 ain't gonna cut it for best traction, fitment, and looks IMO. GO WIDE! This is a RWD car with particularly huge wheel wells, so why not exploit it? Staggeres widths, and killer looks are to our advantage here. We s14 guys can fit up to 18x10 or 19x9.5 in the rear safely. We can run super low offsets too. I don't have wheels and tires yet because I am saving up for the lightest, widest, with the lowest offsets possible. Whether you want fat lip or just concave face spokes, that's the way to go! You can get wide, light, and staggered wheels a bit more affordably these days, so shop around!

While there are different tastes and opinions, the fact is, there is no benefit with a stagger other than looks. The best increasing in handling and traction setup would use the same size front/rear. I'd look at a plus one size on the tires/wheels and get a good sticky tire :ylsuper If you are going more for looks, then go with the stagger. It just depends on what you are trying to get out of the car. That, more than anything will determine what you should look at for wheels, tires. Suspension mods would be a key factor, some offsets will not work if you go with coilovers for example. Here is a listing of the wheels we handle for your car:

That will give you an idea of some of the styles out there.
