Does anyone run Mickey Thompson wheels? Found a great deal on a set of Classic Lock Wheels and was wondering if they will work, especially with OME spring lift. I'm new to wheels as I've always left stock, or bought with already upgraded wheels.

well they have to be 6 on 5.5 lug pattern, at least 16" (some 15s fit and some dont) and the center bore has to be at least 4", and the backspacing should be 3.5 to 4 inches ~BUT~ rather than getting you started on numbers, in my opinion the best way is to just go to your local, family-owned tire shop (corporation/chain tire shops are BS), or off-road shop, and have them test fit a set of rims and tires that works. You need to let the car down and turn the steering wheel at full lock to each side and see if it touches. Ideally, the tire will only be a few millimeters from the strut (but dont worry it wont touch) and for this reason, i do not recommend buying tires/rims online!

Cool. Appreciate the advice. I found the set at the recommendation of a local 4x shop. I know they are 16x8 rims, other numbers I trusted they figured out in searching for the vehicle. Running BFG' AT's 245/70/16.Would the Old Man Emu springs change wheel fit?

personally i think those tires would be way too small for the old man emu lift... 245 is stock QX4 tire width, no? I am running 265/70/16 BFG A/T on stock suspension and i have room to spare. I'd still like to go with a wider tire.

I even had the 265/75/16 BFG A/T before and they were a tad too large for stock height but would fit nicely with a mediocre lift like the OME. How are you liking the ride quality compared to stock, by the way?

I know they will be small, but they are basically brand new and I hate to give them up with like 10K miles on them. Not to mention the cost of new tires...Don't have the springs in yet - just ordered them last week from Rocky Road. I'll keep you posted. Also have Super Sliders, rear and front diff guard, Jim Wolf air intake on the way...I think that's it.

i think i know who you are. Gold QX4 with SCORE stickers?

You have those 245's mounted on stock QX4 rims which are 16x7 they will probably look "stretched out" on 16x8 rims. I have the 265 on 16x8 and the tread still looks narrower than the rim, i dont like them. Trust me you want as wide as you can for the Baja/sand type of wheeling that you probably encounter in Arizona!!

The mom-and-pops type of tire shop that i mentioned earlier, will pay you cash for your old tires. Try to get discount tire, or an off-road shop to do that (cause it aint gonna happen)!!! When i sold back my last BFG's (50% tread, and thrashed), they gave me $300. Within a few minutes another customer was already eyeing them, and bought them for his 4runner, paid $400!!! I love it!!

I threw 295/50/20's on my qx4 with only slight rubbing at full lock @ stock ride height, just for reference

MT's are sexy wheels though

Sorry man - no dice. Gold, but no SCORE stickers. I'm located east of Phoenix in Gilbert.

Stopped by the shop today - wheels are slick. MT's classic lock with black powder coating. 16X8 6-5.5 with 4" backspacing. They are a custom deal that some guy never picked up. His loss my score! Going in tomorrow to have them fitted and see what happens with the tires. They say they'll be fine. If I go for it, I'll send pictures.

Okay - let me know what you think. Got new wheels - Mickey Thompson Classic w/ Lockers custom powder coated black.

Also are before and after pictures of the Super Sliders (from Rocky-Road) installed this weekend:

Looks awesome bro! I've been eyeballin' these Mickey Thompsons for the last 2 weeks. I'm thinking of doing those with the 2" AC lift plus a set of 265/75/R16 BFG A/T's plus a similar step and grill guards. Those rims looks really tight though, they're making me reconsider not going all black.

Picked them up for $115 each. Apparently they had been sitting around for a few years in the back of a warehouse. Just wanted them out of the way I guess. I couldn't pass it up.

Thought all black as well. I actually was just going in to pick up some black steels when they told me about the MT's taking up space in the back.

Thinking now of putting some BFG KM2s around them after the lift goes on. I'll post more pics when it's "finished".

Those wheels are sexy bishes!

How much do those wheels weigh? I think those would look even better on rigs like EmptyV's and mine, with the black/silver trim.

Advertised at 27 lbs.

I almost didn't get them because I didn't have a black Q. They'd be killer on black or black / sliver body. Almost went out and traded for a black Q just for the wheels!!

Empty V, Didn't see the one's you are looking at, but they would look cool!

I personally like a smoother look, not so many edges. Seems like a pain to clean too.

Any new pics?? Those wheels look fantastic!! Nice sliders too. A taller wider tire will look even better when lifted but right now that is a great looking ride! Black goes great with the color of your Q. Fantasic price too! You wouldnt even be able to buy BFG's alone for that price.

hey EMPTY V, don't buy bfg ATs! they are the most worthless tire on the market. If you are going to go off road, get a mud terrain( 2x the tread for $100 more) they look better and last longer. An all terrain tread is going to perform the same way a standard street tire would off road. Trust me ive been there done that. BFG is a popular brand name and you end up paying 20% for the name alone just like John Deer tractors. Do your research. I could have bought 4 MT ATZs for like 700 and I bought MT MTZ for 800. They are made out of the same rubber, but the mud terrains have at least twice the tread and in turn will last me twice as long..... STAY AWAY FROM ALL TERRAINS!!!
