I just got my tires (215 45 17 front 225 45 17 rear) mounted on 4 17x9 +35 wheels and tried mounting a front wheel. I put it on and found the stud was too short to mount the wheel, I assume this is because I need a spacer( or just the longer studs included), but I had originally thought that the spacer(or just longer stud w/ the spacer) was only required for clearing coil overs. So my question is, should these wheels be fitting with the stock length studs on a stock suspension or will I have to wait for my spacers to arrive? Also, any ideas if this will be a problem for the rears? Car is a 1990 240sx with stock suspension. Thanks in advance for the help. -John

Note: coming up with search combinations is harddd, but yes I did search.

????? If you are using a spacer more than 10mm wide, that is bad. You will not get more than a few turns from the lug nut. Other than a spacer there is really no reason for the wheel not to mount properly.

yeah but the thing is that this is without the spacer, everything is stock. The stock studs arent long enough to accomodate the wheel I cant get the lugnut on it and tighen it on, so I assume that I just need longer studs? (without the spacers bc those are only needed to clear coil overs which I dont have currently)

Two things just occured to me. 1: do the wheels require "tuner" (God I hate that word) lugnuts? Basically a more narrow than stock nut to fit in the hole. 2: Does the wheel sit flush on the hub? As in not rubbing the struts or catching on suspension pieces. I think you mentioned +35 in a previous post, that should put you at roughly 6" of rim to the inside. That is close but should clear all stock suspension.

17x9 +35 is probably hitting something...

yup you were right, I need the "tuner" lugnuts. Yes the wheel sits flush on the hub and doesnt hit anything, but it looks close. thanks for your help.

Anyone know a good place to get a good lug nut set?

Discount Tire baby. the stores usually keep the Gorilla 6 splines open or close ended in stock. They usually sell for 1.50 to 2.00 bux a piece. Between my 4x4 and 240's I have spent enough at my neighborhood store to get them free to a $1 a piece. Just remember they are m12x1.25 threaded.
