So I decided to wash and wax my M yesterday. Stood in Walmart for almost an hour looking for the right products to use. Ended up getting the Eagle one A-Z all wheel and tire cleaner. Followed the directions by spraying on and rising off within the 30 second mark actually less than that more like 15-20 seconds. Low and behold after rising off it left my rims with black marks and discoloration that I can't get off my wheels. It looks like brake dust but it is baked into the rims and the clear coat was stripped off the rims. I will post some pictures of what the two wheels look like that I sprayed versus the other two that I did not spray but used only soap and water to clean. Any suggestions on ways to fix this? I read on another forum that others have had similar issues and had to replace their rims.

Here is the link to the pictures. The first two pictures are of the damaged rims and the last two are of the non damaged wheels that I only used soap and water to clean.

Don't forget to contact Eagle One directly for an answer as to why it went wrong and how they'll make you whole again.

Trying a good polish might help... Were your wheels hot when you wash them? I've used that same wheels cleaner for years and have never had a problem with it.

That's exactly what I did. Waiting for their claims person to call me back. I hate to even drive my car now with the rims looking like that. Those rims were like new without any marks or anything wrong with them.

I read another forum where members had the same issue with the sport rims. Polish did not work and they had the rims replaced. No the wheels were not hot. Car was in garage for a few hours prior to pulling it out to wash it. Might have sat in the sun for 45 mins tops but the tires were the first thing I did before washing the body.

I cant see pictures...but anyway.why use a wheel cleaner? use regular car wash soap with a separate wash mitt that u dont use for your car paint.mequires gold class or wash and wax.and never wax your rims.it makes dust cling to your wheels.

You don't need new rims, they can be refinished.

Update: Eagle One sent me a check for the estimate to repair the rims.

When I had it in last week for the timing chain recall the Infiniti dealership used a similar wheel cleaner I guess and caused the same issue to the passenger side rims. They took care of that on last Thursday but failed to tell me that one of their techs hit something with my car denting and scratching the front passenger quarter panel and headlight. Plus they lost the infiniti logo that goes on the engine cover. Service manager said he will take care of the engine cover issue but not aure he can do anything about the dent and scratches.

Thanks I will call them tomorrow. Also noticed that the driver headlight is not put in correctly. I think they took the front bumper off when they did the timing chain. The car was in immaculate condition when I got it minus some normal swirls in the paint and one small scratch. Only had the car for three weeks as of the 28th and never drive it much. Even when I drive it to work or the store I park far away from other cars or carts.

Wow, I'd be FURIOUS. Dealer would be taking care of everything and then some. Definitely call corporate and then provide your dealer with the case number, my guess is they change their tune quite quickly (I did this once for a suspension issue I was getting the run around on on my 07).
