I'm vetting low on tread on my Michelin Primacy mxm4 tires that came with my car (used). I have until winter, I suspect.

I'm thinking of goi g with winter tires for my stock 18" wheels and New wheels and Ultra High Perf All Season (or Summer) tires for non-winter use.

Does anyone have any input on good tires for these vehicles? I'm a spirited driver and the Michhelins have impressed me. Pirelli P Zeros are cheaper on Tire Rack in both 18 and 19" and are UHPAS, not Grand Touring like the Michelins.

Should I go with 18 or 19" wheel? Pros and cons? I figure if I upgrade to Sport brakes or Sport Package Q in the near future, the 19" should be direct fit, no?

I heartily recommend Continental Extreme Contact DWS-06 SL tires.

I went though a similar discernment and ended up coming to the following conclusions:

- I ended up moving to 20" wheels with new Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+ tires (245/40ZR20) on new Infiniti wheels. That move meant that the speedometer was still accurate and mileage was accurate with no other modifications if your 18" tires are 245/50R18. I love the wheel/tire combination and it is loads better than the Primacy MXM4 - which I truly disliked. It also looks so much better! I now have about 5000 miles on them and have zero complaints. I'm working in Seattle 3 or 4 days a week and their roads are in bad shape and you feel it with the sportier wheels and tires. Everywhere else, where the roads are in decent shape, the drive is awesome.

- I was thinking about upgrading the brakes from the standard ones to the sport brakes. However, if you do that, the 18" wheel set will no longer fit and you will have to swap out the spare in order to clear the larger sport brakes. I was thinking about doing it more for looks that anything else, but once I studied it out, ended up sticking with the standard brakes. I don't take the car to the track and it stops fine as is. Once it has reached a point that I need new brakes, I plan to go the Brakemotive route again.

I hope that helps you in your decision. Please let me know if you have any questions.

@kmiles ,

Do you happen to have any pictures of your M with 20" wheels?

Michelin Pilot Primacy 3 Grand Tour Summer Y-speed rating - riding on rails, complete control at ANY practical hi-way speeds , more confidence at 110 mph curves ,than 60 mph on sh%$^tt tires . BTW my other tires are the superb Conti DWS (all season though) W speed rated - nice too :yesnod
Those Michi 's , special order Costco = $ 875 mount/bal for 4 !!!

Those 20" factory wheels looks hella sharp. How much did they set you back? May be less than the ones I've been eyeballing on Tire Rack.

I bought them when they had the 25% off online sale. The wheels cost me $1,182 + tax with no shipping as I picked them up at the dealer. It was harder to find the black center caps with the logo. I found those through parts.com by ordering the center caps for a 2018 q50 red. The part number is 403436WY6A - ORNAMENT - DISC and they came to $209 for a set of 4. I bought the tires at Costco and had them install everything, including costco TPMS sensors.
