Last year I bought a set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS-06 SL tires for my M56x. Wow, best tires I ever had. No hydroplaning, great snow traction. Very happy. 10/10 would buy again.

Aside: Last month 1 tire got punctured by a screw, but TireRack.com replaced it under warranty. :-)

I also had 2-3 sets of DWS's on my 07 M35x. Definitely a great tire.

Great choice mate !
Tire Rack lists them as less than Michelin and Pirelli for responsiveness, etc. However, they only test them on little BMW 3 series so .......... nuff said.
Every member who actually uses them on OUR cars loves them. I like the tread design and they are quieter and softer than Michelins on the roadway. I don't recall reviews on tread life but I reckon if it was an issue, we would have heard about it.
My area is winter and snow free. Since Florida is flat and sea level, our big concern is wet roads and deep puddles. I remember using a set of Cooper (I all them 'crapper') tires on the audi estate that I brought here with me and was very nearly killed in the wet due to spirited driving. I was amazed that I was able to recover control without hitting anything. They were less than a year old but I quickly pitched them and replaced them with Michelins. Cooper is the only brand I strongly advise against.

Agreed.
I have also had very good experiences with the Contis on various cars. Good balance of cost, traction, ride, handling and road noise.
I have not yet gotten them worn down, but I remember a set of ProContacts I had on my Jag still kept good traction as they aged, but got obnoxiously loud and jittery at highway speed, although the tread was wearing evenly (but admittedly quite low).

Back to the Extreme contact DWS06s, these days I prefer to buy tires from a local chain. Lifetime rotation and balance + flat repair makes it attractive. It's the manufacturer that carries the tread/mileage warranty IIRC.
Last time I bought 255/35/20 tires, and I paid around $911 out the door. That was after I negotiated around 200 bucks off their initial quote... then I registered my tires online with Continental and applied for their $70 rebate.

I'll definitely considering buying the DWS06 when the Michelin Pilots on the M56 wear down.

I am not a big fan of the dws. Coming from the Michelin pilots. I won’t be buying the dws again they just felt to sloppy, however after 100 miles I forgot and now they feel ok. But I believe they are a bit loud. Just my 2 cents

Unfortunately, because Infiniti can't be bothered to provide double glazed windows and uses a laughable, tissue thin insulation, there is NO such thing as a truly quiet ride in these cars. 😒
Even the newest models have the same cheap insulation. Infiniti have made no effort at all. Best we can do is avoid tires that are rated as 'loud'.

They were on my car when I purchased it. I bought them again, a square set but I kept two of them that were in almost new condition. The new set is 275-35-20 the old set is 245-40-20 so if I decide to do a staggered set of wheels for my summer set. Running 18's for my winter set of tires which are 235-55-18. They work great.

Depends on if I sell my stock sport wheels.

I paid $650ish for all 4 plus, the guy at discount installed them for free which never happens so I jumped on it.

I waited till there was a sale on discount direct on eBay and had $100 off per $400 spent and they matched price on another seller. Best deal I ever got on a set of new tires.

As far as life goes, my friend at another chain said basically doesn't matter what brand these type of tires last maybe three years. I run a separate set of snows in the winter months ago I get a year or two more.

I do love those tires but I'm sure there is better but I'm not willing to pay $250-350 per tire.

I hunt for deals cuz it's real easy to spend a grand.

I've been through 3 sets of dws and love them. 2 sets on my Camaro that I can drive through standing water and light snow no problem, also last forever. Also had a set on my old g35x that plowed through snow like a champ. Now on the M37x, waiting on the Michelins to wear out to be replaced with the new dws06 that I haven't even tried yet. The Micheline aren't bad just don't feel as grippy or responsive when wet or snowy and the wear poorly in my experience.
